Actually that pic is taken from a cinematic. Cutscenes are made using the game engine.

Well...LD2K is a massive Laker fan...and he's in charge of community relations...so....they (or whoever is in charge of the trailer making) probably put them in as a thank you or acknlowdgement (If you'd like to chime in LD that'd be awesome ).
