Re: Rookie Ratings

@turty11 That's a solid job you've done mate. Like the rating of 70 for Steven Adams. Yes he's raw, but he has ridiculous potential. I don't understand all the hate from analysts like David Aldrige about him getting picked 12.

They go on about how he is years away from contributing and will be a bench warmer as they feel he doesn't have a complete grasp of the game. Isn't basketball really about putting the ball through the hoop and stopping the opposition from doing the same?

I know it's more complicated than that, but once he spends some quality time with the excellent player development staff in OKC and gets even bigger (his Tongan genes and his sister Valerie who is a 6'4" 265lbs gold medalist shot putter suggest that he will) he will become a very good NBA center.

He has the right attitude, a great work ethic, ridiculous physical attributes, and a defensive mentor in the form of NBA shot blocker leader Serge Ibaka.

The Thunder need defense, rebounding and effort. And they will get it from Steven Adams. I just hope for his sake that it doesn't take him too long.

Re: Rookie Ratings

i thought dieng would have been a better pick for OKC, but i still like adams, i was very impressed by his shooting during the combine, and frankly i think he should have gone before noel, but thats just my opinion *im VERY low on nerlens, too thin, no offense, questionable durability, can he defend without standing in the paint the entire shot clock*

Re: Rookie Ratings

You guys are seriously overestimating these players' abilities. Potential is one thing, current OVR on the NBA scale is entirely another. My take (with correct teams):

63 6. Sixers: Nerlens Noel PF/C - Kentucky
71 7. Kings: Ben McLemore SG - Kansas
66 8. Pistons: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG - Georgia
67 9. Jazz: Trey Burke PG - Michigan
62 10. Blazers: CJ McCollum PG/SG - Lehigh
64 11. Sixers: Michael Carter-Williams PG - Syracuse
58 12. Thunder: Steven Adams C - Pittsburgh
66 13. Celtics: Kelly Olynyk C - Gonzaga
65 14. Wolves: Shabazz Mohammed SG/SF - UCLA
54 15. Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo SF - Greece
55 16. Hawks: Lucas Noguiera PF/C - Germany
60 17. Hawks: Dennis Schroeder PG - Germany
66 18. Mavericks: Shane Larkin- PG- Miami
64 19. Cavs: Sergey Karasev SG/SF - Russia
61 20. Bulls: Tony Snell SG/SF- New Mexico
-Changed the teams to the ones that hold the actual draft rights.
-Antetokounmpo's ratings are mad low because he's only 18 and easily the most raw player in the draft. Crazy potential, but is relatively worthless at the moment. He won't be coming to the NBA for at least another year or two anyway; he's a stash pick.
-No, I'm not biased about Larkin just because I'm a Mavs fan. By analytics, he's the 9th best prospect in the draft and he was "wowing" scouts at workouts like crazy.
-McLemore should have highest potential rating in the group; McCollum, Olynyk and Larkin should be on the low end of that stat.
-Len and Noel are particularly low because their OVERALL should be low. They only do a few things well (defense, blocking for Noel and add a little post offense for Len), but obviously you can be elite at those few things and still be in the 70s in this game.

Just my two cents.

Yeah I don't think Noel will be able to put too much more weight on. And even if he does that might even increase his risk of getting re-injured. I wasn't surprised to see him drop to 6.

I see him like a shot blocking version of Chris Bosh but without the offense. He will struggle against bigger centers and be forced out of the paint.
