Anybody notice ESPN's traits on thier page? Better than 2ks Sig skills.

Was at ESPN and noticed they have traits which is very cool on this years draft class. A lot of traits that 2k could use. I thought it was cool and something to post about.

Those are kinda nice. Personally, I would prefer that the 2K Sports adjust the ratings accordingly, then use traits to help us identify the player at a glance. IMHO, they should get rid of ALL team/player boosting gimmicks for next year. Player ratings and tendency should be the only thing that separate players.

I agree, sorta... I think Players should play to their ratings, however...

A few traits that I do like though, that give "boosts" are the closer / 4th quarter trait... Because lets be real, that does happen in the real NBA... Some guys just flat out take over when the game is on the line... I think it should be given to only a select few players though...

I also like the trait of Floor General... I'm not sure if there should be ratings boosts involved, but, I think there are certain players that "get the most" out of their teammates...

I like the idea behind the 2k player sig skills overall, but I think they just need fine-tuned.

Agreed but I'm pretty sure that 2K will make a version 2.0 of the sig skills (continuing going the wrong way) instead of taking the sig skills apart and putting it back together in a way that makes sense and make it realistic.


It's going to become less and less sim. I think 2K's goal is: get a HUGE fanbase, make sure every kid buys your game and stay hooked. They know EA sports is coming back sooner or later with the LIVE franchise. That's why they need to make sure everyone buys NBA 2K and not EA. A lot of flash, a lot of shallow things, all about a huge fanbase and $$$$ which EA won't be able to top immediately.

Maybe in a few years, when everything evens out, we'll get a true SIM game again.

Not bad, but even espn has them pretty wrong. For example they have "Penetrating" on Gary Harris but not Trey Burke. I've watched my fair share of big10 basketball and Trey Burke is the definition of someone who penetrates. Harris on the other hand does not penetrate even close to as well as Burke.

I just liked espns idea. I liked the motor and penatrator. Im sure 2k with have a version 2.0 next year.

Like who? Could you name maybe 5 players?

B.S. fantasy. Signature skills are a complete joke. Some players are just willing to take more shots and attempt to carry the offensive load in the 4th quarter. however, there's NOT a single player in NBA who gets magically enhanced for the 4th quarter.

Superstar are already highly rated which makes it an already uphill battle defensively. Then it gets worse, because certain signature skills makes me work HARDER on defense or just alright nullify my defensive efforts. If they want to keep signature skills for NBA 2K14, then they need to remove them from online ranked games.
