Lakers ideas for Assosiation mode.

So I love the Lakers in real life but have never used them in Assosiation mode because its always too easy. Now its a bit different since they are having difficulties despite being loaded. Anyone have any unique ideas on how to run this team? I'm thinking of letting Howard walk for one because I don't think he will re-sign with LA in real life. Its also looking like Gasol will be traded if he ends up being Howards backup for the next month. Then there is Nash and D'Antoni. Do I trade Nash since he is bound for rapid decline? If so, D'Antoni must go, right? Could be interesting. Any suggestions?

I would try and build around Dwight. If he wants to re-sign, you better re-sign him because he's your only young-ish talent asset to build around after Kobe and Nash leave the league.

From what I've read, Howard never re-signs with the Lakers. SO be careful with that.
And apparently, quite often Nash retires at the end of the first season.

If one day I play association, I'll go with the Lakers too. But I think I'll trade Howard and Nash.

Can't trade Nash. U gave up like 3 first round picks for him.

This is pretty much true IF your using another team. He usually opts to come back if your playing with the Lakers.

However your quote about Nash is pretty much dead on either way. I just started another Laker Association after my last one became corrupted. I decided this time to start on today's date(which was Jan,17), Howard has decided to come back already and the only move I'll probably make is if we are out of it at the deadline will be to trade Gasol and his rediculous contract if I can.

just an idea, but couldnt you edit Nash to be a couple years younger? he's likely to play 2-3 years more irl.

What do you mean?
You mean you can't because it would be impossible or because it would not be a good idea?
I admit I clearly don't know some rules about the trades, like if you can't trade a guy you got a few weeks ago or stuff like that.

OK, I didn't know that!

No point at doing that.
If you start doing that, you also can lower Kobe's age, put 90 overall on Morris, lower Pau's contract to 2M$/year...
I know that if I start playing with that stuff, I will do more, thinking that what the hell, I already lowered Nash's age, so I can do more.

You can trade Nash anytime. Probably Nash and a first rounder for Darren Collison or even Kemba Walker to make it realistic enough.

D'Antoni can stay, or leave. Whichever floats your boat.

But when it comes to Dwight, resign him. And if he doesn't want to resign, trade him for a good big man, or even big men. Because Jamison won't stay long.

Pau Gasol? You can trade him. Probably even for Marc Gasol and another role player (under 69 rating) or a first rounder.

You can let Kobe stay (obviously. I don't think you'd trade him for anyone.)

But if you want, you can trade MWP. Probably MWP and Robert Sacre for Eric Bledsoe. Then make Kobe an SF. But you'll probably want to sign a good backup center for Dwight if you're keeping D12.

I haven't played Lakers association yet, but these'll probably happen to me.
