Please Fix Blocking

Let me start by saying, I know this is a frequently discussed topic, and people have already had their say. However, this has really had an effect in my experience and I hope 2k fixes this in future games, or maybe even in this game (wishful thinking). Let me list some problems I have with blocking in this game.

1. Make it possible to block dunks - It is almost impossible to block players who start dunk animations. I've never done it and I've been playing since release. No matter who it is on either end, once that player starts the animation, he can't be blocked. I know in real life you don't just block every dunk attempt, but at least it actually happens once every 2 or 3 games in the NBA. Just today I saw Eric Bledsoe block D-Wade on a fastbreak dunk attempt. Last week Andre Miller got a block vs. a player attempting a dunk. These are two POINT GUARDS who got blocks on players attempting dunks. Why can't my 99 block, 95 vert PF block guards who try to dunk on my face?

2. Stop these magical push animations- A guy is running full speed on fast break, you follow the other side with your chasedown block signature skill. You see the layup animation, so you know you actually have a chance at a block. Your eyes get wide and you're about to get up off your chair as you time your jump perfectly, and then BAM! You magically get pushed and that player finishes his layup like you weren't there. No foul, no block, just a made layup like you weren't there. In real life, either you block that ball into the stands or you guys collide and there is a foul. Not in 2k.

3. Please keep my vertical jump height consistent - Sometimes your guy jumps high enough to hit his chest on the rim, sometimes he barely gets high enough to touch the rim. There are plenty of times when I time my jump perfectly on a player attempting a layup or jump shot in the lane just to have my player jump SIGNIFICANTLY lower than he normally does.

4. Keep quickness and speed consistent when I'm blocking - Sometimes your 85+ speed and quickness guy can't keep up to a 70 or below speed and quickness player trying a layup simply because you're attempting a block. It doesn't happen every time, but it does happe . It is frustrating knowing you easily had a block if your guy just didn't have a slow moment, literally.

I realize if these suggestions were all implemented at once, everyone would average 4+ blocks per game on their my players, and 2k wants to simulate realism. However, even in real life, premier shot blockers garner 3 or 4 block nights consistently. Ibaka averaged 3.7 blocks a game last year, these aren't just arcade numbers. They happen in real life. This game should reward players who invested their skill points in the proper attributes and players who time their jumps well. Instead I find myself wondering which of the above problems cost me that block I know I timed perfectly.

Re: Please Fix Blocking

+1, blocking sucks on this game, I have to play with the block slider at 100 and I don't even see too many of them

This, combined with the nerfed post game (specially post fadeaways) , and the big men stamina issue (basically there are no big men with stamina rating over 90) are game killers, frontcourt players got screwed in 2k13

Re: Please Fix Blocking

Next year I would love to see a shizzle trailer on defense.....

I agree with the vertical consistency....in one sequence I would be jumping high for the block and when you think you will be getting the same result next play he ends up having HEAVY feet!

Re: Please Fix Blocking

just my opinion I think blocking this year is pretty decent. blocking a dunk is actually pretty rare in the real nba...I've done it a few times in this game. Then again I have a beast PF with good defense, 95 block, 95 low post D, and use 2k cam.

You see, some guys get angry around here when I say this, but I`ll keep saying it: 2K, before adding new modes that many times don`t work the way they should (and this applies to all of them!), fix the gameplay. The gameplay is the most important part of the experience, if it is not satisfying, the game will suck.
Blocking is not good as 2K announced it to be, physics is not good at all, players are morphing all the time, the replay in this game sucks (when you activate it, you don`t see how the play happened and sometimes the only thing you see is the ball going through the net).
Also substitutions suck hard. How many times in the 1st quarter does a coach substitute 4 or 5 players of the team??????? NEVER!!!!
2K, fix the glitches next time and stop saying that your game is the best thing ever, because it isn`t!!!!
Stop adding gymmicks. Add substance, please.

Re: Please Fix Blocking

I just puth the block slider up to 60 and it maid a huge difference for me. Guys that were right under the rim and tyson chandler was right ontop of them got blocked 40-30 percent of the time. This is alot better then the 0% of the time in ranked. I get more blocks on the perimeter then n the paint
