Well, if you're the number 1 draft pick and a future stud, I think you'd end up deserving some of this at an earlier point in your career.

Most rookies have shoe deals and team billboards before the season starts.

For example, Will Barton recently signed with Under Armour. And he was a mid-second round pick.

Plenty of unproven rookies who never even played any games in the league yet net shoe deals and its not always first round well known projected star players. Some get magazine cover exposure too depending on what magazine is interested in the player and for what reason.
