Well, the best thing about 2k's rating is the fact that if you don't know how to use that 'overrated' player, he'll still be average.

Can't believe people are hating on Durant being a 95.

Same old complaints every year the ratings are fine, and skill outweighs ratings anyway so it's not that serious

I hate the 'you don't know something if you don't agree with me' posts. And then you go ahead and say that Durant plays great defense -- if that was the case he would have checked Lebron in the Finals successfully.

On offense, he's a nightmare -- on defense, he's just long and doesn't know how to move his feet while trying to play defense with his hands. He looks as if he's playing great defense because teams are hesitant about driving towards Perkins and Ibaka.

Then you have to think about who he goes up against in the West -- I may be overlooking a guy or two but the best one off the top of my head is Rudy Gay. After that you'll have to start mentioning names like Beasley, Marion, or MWP. The SF position out West isn't as star powered like the East. Then you have to think about him being 6'10 and being the height of a power forward -- and inability he has to guard such a position.

But you say he's great at defense? No, he's a member of a great defensive team. On defense, I compare him to Tayshaun Prince on those early 2000s Detroit Piston teams. When you compare the Thunder (on defense) to that team you can see what I'm talking about. Guards that can stay with their man (Westbrook/Billups or Hamilton/Sefolosha) and interior big men who love to be physical (Wallace/Ibaka or Perkins/B.Wallace) -- then you add the long, linky person which would be Durant and Prince.

Now all that was just for comparison reasoning only -- I'm not saying Prince is better than Durant so lets nip that in the bud early.

If you want to say Durant is a good defender, ehhh, I don't agree but don't say he's great. Thats overrating him in an area in which he needs to improve drastically in if he wants to become a true NBA legend.

Durant better than Blake Griffin. so it's fair. i mean come on. Griffin has not done anything besides all star and slam dunk to get a 95. Griffin will get in the 90"s when he makes it to the finals. he has not earned it yet. Durant has.

Also, on any given day one player can be better than another, even though they usually aren't, but NBA2K takes this into account with their roster updates and adjusts players ratings depending on how they are playing in real live. If LeBron ends up having a higher jump shot and three point rating than Durant, then I think you can complain. Otherwise I think the system is fine the way it is.
I don't care about LeBron James, Blake Griffin or Durant. I'm neutral. I'm not a "h8er". I don't "hate" on LeBron James (in case you're a) Heat fan. I'm not afraid to admit he's the best right now. Hell, nobody's even questioning his position as the best player in the league. His damn rating isn't even revealed...of course he's going to have a higher OVR but, Jesus, you said "thus the higher overall rating." like it's come out already. But no. It's not about him. I don't hate on him. Period.

Anyway.

How do you compare Melo and Dirk?

Better yet, how about Al Jefferson and Joakim Noah? One's a scorer, one provides defense among other things. How do you justify rating one higher than the other?

How about Iguodala and Rudy Gay? Again, one's defense and the other is offense.

Timberwolves fans...is Beasley seriously "overall" better than every other player under 80? Hell, even Beasley himself questions it (I have nothing but love for him and hope he succeeds.)

I think they do bump up players a little at times to get their ratings up so they could please more people.

Most role players...hell, most players who aren't superstars get screwed by this system.

Removing the OVR completely allows them to just focus on putting the players in the game accurately, instead of having to spend hours meticulously creating a formula where that the more popular players get the higher OVRs and all that political correctness bullcrap. Maybe they could instead develop other modes...say Association...

You really think that in every single case a player is absolutely better than the other (even "OVERALL")?

Durant's rating is where it needs to be... He does need to improve his strength to keep from getting posted up/bumped on pics but you can't say he does not block shots, play the passing lane, shoot the mid-range and the 3 and he posterizes ppl... Hell, he led the league in scoring for how many years? 3 yrs in a row! He's been in the league for how long??? 5 years... Led his team to the Finals how fast??? 5 years... Sounds like a pretty darn good player to me.

Listen.
Blake Griffin is an 86 or 87 deservedly on 2K. For you guys saying he's, not better than A. Jefferson, Aldridge, etc. just look at who made the USA team. I'm sure Coach K. Doesn't give 2 hoots about Griffins dunking skills. Its was Griffin at the 4 until he tore his meniscus and they throw my guy in there.

Also off topic : Im surprised I'm the first to note this here, anyone else find it odd Griffin got hurt after being announced after being on the cover? D. Rose was already hurt so now this leaves Durant. If Durant gets injured I'm going to say its not an coincidence!
