Player Abilities Association Mode

Do Player Abilities improve over time or is there a way to improve them yourself without resorting to cheating (editing)?

I got Paul George on my team and aside from his awesome talents and his freak height and physical abilities for the SG, he lacks the abilities to do stuff like stepback jumpers and such to really break the star barrier when playing.

I want to improve his shooting abilities so that he becomes good/great at as much of those possible so that he doesn't have to resort to being a spot up jumper and also be able to create his own shots...

So do player abilities improve over time or is there a way to increase it any other way aside from editing the players?

I'm wondering the same thing.

You can do development drills. Also, their potential rating helps out over time, so if you don't want to edit a bunch of ratings and feel like you're cheating, you can just raise that one rating and the others will progress over time.

I am not sure what you are talking about, probably my fault for wrongly reading it.

I mean the special player abilities which are new in 2k12, the ones that range from poor/average/good/great for all kinds of skills like Fadeaways, runners etc. etc.

Has anyone noticed them improving or regressing over time after every season or are they static? I mean surely if they are static it makes no sense that a guy like Derrick Williams or Paul George will always stay bad at shooting fadeaways. They have huge potential and they should improve at that...

But then again I can always improve one thing every off-season, but that really feels cheap.

for real, player ratings are static in association mode??

so like old players dont regress in thier ratings and young, talented players dont improve on thier own?? just with developement drills they do?

I've simmed through a lot of seasons, and I'm pretty sure the abilities improve. Dependent upon potential, of course.

thats what i was always thinking! but do you guys use drills and weekly practise on a regular basis?
the drills are available once a month and permanently improve your stats and the weekly practise just for a few days right?
i have read the cpu doesnt do either of them so if thats the case itd feel like cheating to me. also the temporary stat increase achieved with the weekly practise seems somewhat pointless since i could just adjust the sliders to my favour.
so as a conclusion do i get a realistic player developement without drills?

Re: Player Abilities Association Mode

I think you guys are confusing what I am saying.

I am not talking about the skills like vertical, awareness, shooting, passing etc.

I am talking about the abilities every player has ranging from poor to great which entails their moves like doing fadeaways and dribble jumpers and such.

For example Paul George has average Fadeaway ability, will this improve over time or does this stay the same for the entirity of his career? Are there ways to have him improve shooting fadeaways to good/great or does it never change from average?

I mean George has great potential which will improve all his skills like 3pt shooting, but with average fadeaway shooting he will always be crippled when doing faders.

I hope people understand now.
