on-the-fly coaching windows popping up out of nowhere - glitch???

I saw this problem posted as a glitch in the glitch thread. I'm having exactly the same problem and it's so frustrating that I can't play the game anymore. I'm not sure it's a glitch so I'm posting it here in the hope that someone has found a solution or knows what I might be doing wrong if it's not a glitch (I just copied part of what the person who posted it wrote, so I hope he doesn't mind).

During gameplay, the directional buttons ("on-the-fly coaching" command) will be activated and I get trapped in making substitutions, calling plays, or changing defensive assignments. I set all of the coaching options to Auto and this still happens. this happens many times a game I have to just stop playing (it won't let me pass or shoot while the window is blended in) and it causes the shot clock to run out or I may be on a fast break and one of the D-Pad commands gets triggered and I am screwed. I should mention that I don't think this happened before the last update. I changed controllers thinking that the buttons might be damaged but it happens with the other controller as well.
Anyone else get this problem? I should mention that I play on ps3.
