Ways to improve the Association in NBA 2k13

Players of the association mode throw out some thoughts.

1. Staff contracts and budgets
-I saw this suggested by someone in a thread somewhere.....At the start of a new association every member of the Team's staff should have 1 year contracts to allow for faster flexibility in improving your staff.

2. Who's the new guy
-I can't beg for it enough. Created players need more notice from the game announcers, they should talk about their stats and achievements and if its the first game mention their school and perhaps how many years they been in the league. The least they can do is say their last name when announcing the lineups.

Last but not least
3.Championship Celebration
-How much complaining has to go on before 2k gives us a celebration that's worth the 82+ you have to play to get it. I mean stubborn is the word. Slogans of realism fall short when you show the crowd celebrating more than the actual team. And I'm sorry, as much as you guys seem to think that we are in love with the sound of David Stern's voice, I have to say I couldn't care less. Let me find out EA got you beat on that. Madden knows what it is. In madden you play less than half of the games in the NBA to win a championship and they show a cutscene focused on the players going crazy on the field, a parade and the president getting a jersey . If EA can do it, it can't be impossible for 2k. Can I get a cutscene focus on the players being happy, a champagne shower clip , a President that moves? If 2k can do something similar to Madden then the championship will be worth it.

Re: Ways to improve the Association in NBA 2k13

I think before anything, they really ought to fix player progression (which applies to MP as well). The game becomes different after yr. 1 no matter if you're a player who just sims or actually plays the game because of all the superplayers. Fixing the potential would be a start.

Re: Ways to improve the Association in NBA 2k13

I think the suggestions I made last year for NBA 2K12 could very well serve a great purpose to improve the Association mode in NBA 2K13...

(1) Implement a head coach and assistant coach pool, like free agency. Take the last 10 years and any head coach that has not officially retired (Jeff Van Gundy for example, Kurt Rambis, Larry Brown) and assistant coaches (instead of having just the lead, how about take out one of the scouts slots and add another assistant coach). Give us users the option to hire a proven head coach if we choose to get rid of our current one.

(2) Implement the new CBA and factor that into the Association mode when it comes to salary cap and signings as such. I for one on the roster project I am apart of went through team by team, player by player and FIXED every single contract that was off, whether it was off by a few thousand or a few million, in association mode and making trades within the given rules it helps trust me.

(3) Technical foul and flagarent fouls. This year they instituted the clear path foul, now time to add these two foul types. Technical fouls can be tied into a players emotion, stamina, any attribute that would play a part in him getting a technical foul. It would give the emotion attribute a much greater purpose in the flow of the game.

(4) I am not sure this can be done, but with our roster we found our way around starting an association and new players being signed in the NBA and then we'd have to re-start just to have the updated rosters. I downloaded 100 generic CAPS and implemented them into free agency, giving the user the ability to edit the generic slot and create the new player while continuing his association.

(5) Online Association - idea to me was interesting, but I would've tested it after the release of 2K12 and once they had it down and could provide it to us without all the problems then add it to either 2K13 or 2K14, but it seems like they wanted to give us a feature that we had never had before and they rushed it.

(6) Legends - the 15 legend games was great for myself who grew up in the 80's watching Magic, Bird, Erving, Wilkins and all those guys. I liked the fact that they were able to at least for the most part get accurate rosters 9-10 men deep on some of the teams (at least the main rotation). Now for 2K13 how about they go through every team and give us the best 12 man roster for each team. How cool would it be to see the Lakers (West, Johnson, Bryant, O'Neal, Worthy, Gasol, Abdul-Jabbar, Baylor, Goodrich) against the Celtics (Bird, McHale, Parish, Havlicek, Russell, Ramsey, Pierce, Garnett, Rondo) just as an example. **I would have to say that players on the team had to have played a certain amount of time with the team to be considered**

(7) Training Camp Mode - After we have gone through it once, allow us to go through it with a player of our chose without the tutorial then. As long as we go through each category, but let us be able to select the player that we want to train with.

(8) And finally...Association Mode - This is your bread and butter. I don't spend alot of time playing MyPlayer and it seems like Creating a Legend is MyPlayer without going through the process of making a team, but put your focus on Association. I think many people, especially those who work on roster sets and those who follow and download them are Association players and they need an easy and reliable simulated experience and this provides it...if you fix the small issues that were a problem this year.

Those are just some of the ideas I think would better the game. I do understand that it might not be possible to reach a certain number of our ideas and suggestions, but I think we would all be content with 2K at least taking them into consideration, after all, they are developing a simulated sports game for us aren't they? We might not be the brains behind the creation, but we are the brains behind the feel and the success of the creation.

Re: Ways to improve the Association in NBA 2k13

I agree with everything posted so far, especially the potential work. Player progression is just flat out AWFUL in this game. My top improvements:

1) Completely rebuild player potential/progression. Allow player's potential to fluctuate based on performance from the previous season, not arbitrarily. Allow some players' ratings to drop in the offseason because they didn't work on their game/had an off year. I want to see SOPHOMORE SLUMPS and ROOKIE BUSTS. Neither of which exist in 2K's universe. And I just want to see a lot less progression as a whole...way way way too many talented players sit in free agency by year 8 because no one can sign them.

2) Enhance the create a player feature to give us more options for how players look. I like what the previous poster said about Harlan and Kellogg commenting on the fact that a new player has joined the team...that would be awesome. I want to also customize the way he looks twice as much...I'm sorry, but there seem to be only 10-15 different looking CAPS this year...there's just no variety available. And FIX THE FREAKING UNICORN GLITCH!!!

3) Throw in more commentary so that by year 2, Kerr and Kellog don't just sit there twiddling their thumbs. The only commentary I'm getting in year 3 is based on your team's record, and then it's only 1 of 3 standard, scripted conversations.

4) Overhaul free agency so that's it's MUCH more difficult to sign top players. I'm the Bobcats, and in year 3 when Paul George became a free agent, he only had 3 offers. And I swooped in and grabbed him all too easily. Also, I want to see more factors play into where a FA goes. Madden had this: team's success, money, city location, etc.

5) Completely, and I mean COMPLETELY DEMOLISH the CPU trade logic and rebuild it from the ground up. It's terrible. It's awful. It's Terriful.

Re: Ways to improve the Association in NBA 2k13

I also agree with everything people been posting so far. Here is some of my ideas that I think would make this game even better...

1. Being able 2 sign assistant coaches 2 be ur head coach having all these generic coaches looking all crazy an whack during gameplay drives me insane. One other thing with coaches is being able 2 edit them, u can with players don't c why not with coaches.

2. Man change up the hairstyles we need some better waves and edge ups, let us edit the hairline height please lol... Plus we need some more unique hair styles like Nerlens Noel, James harden and please fix the Afro 2k why mess with that when it was just fine in last years game.

3. I rarely hear this one be discussed but can u please expand the name bank for the people who make draft classes would love this for example I was playing 2k college hoops 08 cuz u know no one makes a college bball game no more and I was looking threw the name bank on that game and was blown away with ur choices are. Please I would never stop making classes if y'all did this..

4. Tattoos enough said.. NBA players are tatted up man we should be able 2 make are players look like wiz khalifa on the court...

5. Since u updated the name bank c #3 lol have David Stern say the names that are in the name bank for the players being drafted.

6. Let us have the option of keeping players over seas if we want them 2 develop more or if they feel like they don't wanna come 2 the nba team there drafted 2 right away. If they stay there should be something while trading that allows u 2 trade thier rights 2 another team 2....

Make it happen 2k and 2k13 will go down as the greatest game ever IMO

S/O 2 SwaggerCoach u know ur stuff man

Why am I the only who feels that cap players with cold spots ruins association mode altogether. Why even 'rebuild' if drafting a player does nothing by way of furthering your team talent wise.

Cold spots are a game killer for me.
