I have played several games with Maravich and Bird. Even though Maravich's overall rating is an 85 versus Bird's overall rating of 97, Pistol is almost unstoppable if you know how to use him (shooting mid range runners and leaners). Pete's shooting percentage is actually much higher when he is shooting runners rather than normal set shots. Here is one example to support my case: I just played my first half of a game set on Hall of Fame difficulty with the 70-71 Hawks (me) against the 71-72 Knicks (CPU). In 24 minutes of play Maravich had 48 points, shooting over 60% from the field, keep in mind I'm playing on sim sliders with on ball defense set on 70. Most of his points came from mid range runners with Earl Monroe in his face. Others came from close shots while guarded by Jerry Lucas. I led at the half 52 to 51.

sim sliders midrange is at 50 so you will shoot higher % by default

That's true but my point was I believe Pete is better than anyone else in the game from midrange. That's including Bird, Allen, and Nowitzki who by the way has a 99 midrange rating compared to Pete's 85. There are a lot of factors that play into it.

He plays for the 1971 Hawks. This team can be unlocked through the Greatest mode (either Jerry West or Wilt Chamberlain's challenge, I can't remember which).

I have to disagree with you, OP. I played a game with him, and he finished 11 for 34 from the field. Went ICE COLD from mid-range throughout the 3rd quarter. Wide open jumpers. Couldn't hit one.

Pete is a bad man. I got him on the lakers in my association. He is like my 4th option behind kobe,jordan,and zo. He makes crazy passes and as you said his mid range is crazy good. His 3pt shooting is good too. He is almost automatic

I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...
