Pro / Sim

Works perfectly for now but probably not future wise.

Re: Which Difficuly Settings do you Play on?

The very first time I played 2K12 (the retail version), I played on All-Star/Sim and only lost by one point to the Knicks with the New Jersey Nets. That was when I played the game in Gamestop on 5 minute quarters. So when I bought the game, I immediately played on Superstar/Sim and got blown out. As I got better, I was losing games by 8-10 points, but the scores would be in the high 120's (I play on 12 mins quarters). I tried out All-Star and noticed that it was a challenge too, plus the CPU played more human like by not reacting to every thing supernaturally like the do on Superstar and above.

I no longer play on Simulation, however. Just like last year's game, I'm finding that Simulation isn't a true representation of the free flowing nature of NBA basketball; it's more a forced way of playing the game from a halfcourt perspective. Things like the steal success being low and steal attempts being at 5 just didn't seem like real basketball to me. Plus, I'm noticing that by putting the steal success and steal tendency back at 50, the live ball physics are more at play, leading to more scrambles for loose balls, something I wasn't seeing on the simulation setting. Also, I think upping the contact sliders negates the addition of having a new collision system, so I play with those sliders at default too.

I also play with quickness at 30 as I found players changing directions too quickly at the default setting. I left the shooting sliders at their simulation settings, other than lowering mid and 3 pt shooting to about 47 for both. I was still able to go 7 for 10 from 3 last night with Brandon Jennings, but I haven't tested it enough to see if this would happen every single game. I'm cool as long as it's not a regular occurrence, although the shots were wide open 3's, and Brandon Jennings is a halfway decent shooter when left open.

Pro/Sim - for the legends greatest mode.

All Star/Sim - for everything else. Sliders are adjusted for 3 pointers, mid range, clutch off, cpu commit fouls, steal success, steal tendency and offensive rebounds.

Well for online association i would choose no higher then allstar difficulty because the admin has no controls to set sliders currently.

Right now, sticking with Pro. I've never been great with isomotion, so playing Pro and running plays has been my MO for years (I play offline).

However, after completing Training Camp, I'm a bit more comfortable with some of the isomotion stuff. I'm hoping that by the time the lockout ends, I will have mastered some of it to move up to AS.

Try this instead: Ignore all the other sliders, leaving them at 50, and just max out on-ball defense. I'm getting better field goal percentage numbers doing this, and it only took one slider.

Right now, I'm about half way through the third quarter of a Suns (CPU) and Kings (me) game on 12-minute quarters with game speed at 40, with all other sliders at 50 except for on-ball defense, which is at 100. The score is currently 65-56 with the Suns shooting 46% (34 for 52) versus my 45% (22 for 48). The Suns are currently 8 for 18 from three, while I am 4 for 8 from 3. The current rebound totals are 25 to 26, and points in the paint are 24 and 26 for the Suns and Kings, respectively.

To me, this slider balances out all other aspects of the game. Of course, this is only one game (not even a full game at that), but I doubt the statistics will venture from its current pace. Like I said earlier, simulation is not the way to go if you want real stats and dynamic gameplay that actually resembles the NBA.
