Improvements to My Player.

Let me start by saying NBA2k My Player is my favorite "be-a-pro" mode ever.

Now I would like to address somethings that I think will increase the realism and overall fun to MP for NBA2K12.

1st I would eliminate the templates pass-first, athletic, all-around,etc. These templates are to restrictive IMO. I would gave a clean slate and let user build their respective players any way they like. So if I want a guard with amazing handles, but terrible every where else I can.

Next I wouldn't start new created player so low. It's just not realistic on top of being frustrating early on and to easy to soon. You literary go from the worst player in the league to top 5 in one season progressing should be more complex and difficult. No player should increase more then 10-12 overall points a season. The floor should be higher but the roof should be a lot harder to reach or at the very least should take more than half a season. Which leads me to my last point.

Skill point should be eliminate as well(after you initially build your MP). You guys have all these great drills but I only use one(shooting). How you progress should be how player progress in real life working hard on the aspect of his game he wants to improve. You can't improve your perimeter defense by shooting jump shots or you can't improve your handles from rebounding. This shouldn't be just limited to drills but actually game performances. Whatever your good at in game you improve on in ratings.

I agree, especially with the last paragraph. The practice drills don't make any sense right now. If you are not good at shooting, first improvements in that area should come easily if you really concentrate on it. But in this game, if you can't shoot, the shooting drill won't earn you anything.
The drills just feel like tacked on bnous games.
They are also poorly connected to player improvement. If you all you do for example is the dribble drill and use the earned skill points to improve your post-D this doesn't really fit either.

I also agree with your 2nd paragraph but I'm not too sure if the majority of the NBA 2k players would. I would doubt they would have the needed attention span to play through many seasons until they reach the top. Especially because many players might be playing MyPlayer just on the side of Association.

Re: Improvements to My Player.

Hahaaaa i could go all day on this even though My Player is great. I think you should be able to have a tv and watch sportscenter to see if you made top plays, however i think you should be able to skip to the part you want. Also, for the wii, they need to make it like the other systems. you cant nearly customize your player as much as on other systems. Also, let people be able to type their nicknames. AND, put more names into the commentary thing. I'm pretty sad because there's a guy with the last name of Ford in the league but they dont put in mine... Dodge! put in all the car names! LOL so that is a couple of things i think.

Re: Improvements to My Player.

The one thing i want most is the ability to have some true say so in the trades. I'm a PF for the Pacers and in 52 games so far they have made these trades

SG Dahntay Jones and our 1st for PF/C JJ Hickson - which was a good trade

PF Tyler Hansbrough and SF James Posey for SF/SG Francisco Garcia and SF Marquis Daniels - I was fine with this one also because Hickson filled TH's spot.

PF/C Josh McRoberts for SF Cartier Martin - Awful trade. Now just about all the depth with the bigs are gone. Who the heck wants Jeff Foster playing?

SG/SF Mike Dunleavy for SG Wayne Ellington - Good trade i guess

Now this is the trade that made me request a Trade from the Pacers

C Roy Hibbert and SF Paul George for Monta Ellis - WTF? Hibbert was our only true big. I didn't mind George being traded because he took too many shots. I played 4 games since and have now asked for a trade. Teams are killing us on the inside. I do my best to stop them but JJ Hickson is no Center.

I would like it to be that once you reach a determined status with your team the team will come to you for input on a trade. Not just picking 5 players you would like but what about players you want gone from the team? They could also ask for your opinion on Free Agents to sign and things like that.

I know its giving more power to Your Player than ever before in the history of the NBA but i think the fact that its a game should over shadow that. I want final say so in MY PLAYER.

Re: Improvements to My Player.

You shouldnt start out as a 39 Ovr Player being a picked any where in the first round. Its takes a half of the season to get attibutes at a comfortable level. Some attributes are too low to start off with. You should start out at least 50-60 OVR. I would understand starting out under 40 if we started out in the D-League like in MLB the Show how we start out in the AA. But if we start out at 50-60, there should be a cap at 80 for the first season.
There should be season goals given out by coaches to achieve SP.

We should be able to sim games without having to start a game. We should be able to get SP but similar to RTTS but a little more. Not getting Milestones, but still being able to sim games. I dont like having to asking to trade because I dont fit the team. I would like to sim the season. 82 games plus playoffs are to long to complete if you play every game. Simming would be great.

Sliders are a must in MP next year. I hate having to score 40+ a night to win or shoot 30+ a night because teammates miss shots they can make blind in real life. Sliders would make MP so great. The teammates defense is horrible. Teammates react very slowly than they should. Alot of people get a ton of Rebounds because teammates hesitate. I hate seeing elite players missing shots they make in real life. CPU defense reacts to quickly to all plays. I hate getting TOs because bad defenders are coming out of know where and tipping passes.

Misc. There should be contracts. I dont want to have to choose every year which team I want to go to. There should be more customizabilty. There should be a passing template. More hairstyles, different voices. There should be more endorsments. The abilty to have more than 8+ shoes. 6+ 3pt, 5+ speed, 6+ Quickness, 10+ Consistency. More billboards and Magazines. Post games to talk about Endorsments. More interaction between teammates and coaches. Presentation similar to Play Now/Assoc. Commentary talking about MP more. Sideline Reporters. Halftime. More off the court stuff to do. Money. The abilty to collect money and buy shoes, and train.

Re: Improvements to My Player.

They should have different settings when starting your My Player.

Casual on one end of the spectrum for people who want instant gratification. In this mode, you would start out with a higher overall, work your way into the rotation easier, be able to simulate, etcetera. I wouldn't play this mode personally, so I'm sure others would have better ideas for this setting

On the other end of the spectrum would be a Sim setting for people who want My Player mode to feel even more like a struggle. You would have to work really hard to improve, getting playing time would be a huge challenge and starting would be a huge accomplishment (if you land on a team with a highly rated player at your position, then chances are you aren't starting until you get a higher overall or that person is traded). I'd make the stat caps in this Sim setting much more stingier so every player doesn't end up as the same LeBron James type who does everything for their team, but rather focuses on one or two specialties so every player feels unique.

Sliders are huge need for MP. Unless they completely overhaul AI Teammates and Improve/Fix CPU Defense, it wont be as fun as it should
You can still score as a 50OVr or less player. I have 3pt, Med maxed at 99 and I am still 50 OVR. Sliders will make Gameplay great in MP. If they only touch one thing in MP, it should be add Sliders
