Mismatches don't matter in this game

I just played a game, i was the Pacers the kid i was playing was the knicks. I saw he had Ronnie Turiaf guarding Danny Granger, so i figured i would do an iso and drive with em for some easy buckets. However, i couldn't get past Turiaf to save my life, he blocked my lane nearly everytime and not to sound cocky, but i am pretty good with crossovers and using the stick.

Another example, i am KG or Duncan a PF/C and i'm backing down a small pg/sg and i either miss the shot or cannot back him down. I mean what is that?? I literally had a game where i was couldn't back down the pg with my center.

Any one else have issues like this, it makes the game seem so unrealistic.

The kid was having the computer do the D, just incase anyone was wondering

Re: Mismatches don't matter in this game

I think this has been a problem for quite some time. However, it is nowhere near as bad as it was in previous years.

I do think the game could do a much better job of acknowledging mismatches and the fast break.

To the game's credit, however, I do notice that in the NBA - mismatches are not always exploited immediately, and sometimes not at all. I have also noted that sometimes the mismatched defender is able to provide adequate D. So, it's a problem, but it's not as bad as it used to be.

If you are good with the crossovers then you would be getting past him whether it's the computer or not. If he's blocking your path then try some stepbacks with a deadly shooter like Granger

KG is a beast in the post when used right. Off-timing can mess up your post game though.

Learn to use fakes in the post on smaller defenders. If you can't exploit mismatches consistently in this game, you need to practice.

Use a slider dude. For me, I put strength to 90-91 to feel the difference of big men to smaller ones. As for on-ball defense, that depends on your skill, if you can't get past your D with your dribbling skills, you can easily adjust the slider that fits your taste.

Come on guys, give the man a break. I for one,can sympathize. Don't insult the man's intelligence by saying he needs to practice-or that he's just not good enough (to get by Ronnie Turiaf, mind you.). It sucks when you clearly beat a defender, only to have him magically "glide" across the floor and disrupt your advance. I've seen it happen many times. If it wasn't an A.I construct, why is it that this rarely (if ever) happens when a player is playing on-ball D? While I appreciate the game's attempt to keep things competitive, things like this just shouldn't happen. And while I don't completely agree with the title of this thread, I do however, think that you should stop lamenting the guy for speaking ill of an aspect of this game. Trust me, I have seen much, much worse.
