It's official: the patch weakened Offensive Rebounds (tested!)

After averaging about 5 offensive rebounds (with 9 min quarters) in my association, I decided to try remove the patch and see if it improves the amount of offensive rebounds I could grab. So, After removing the patch, I was up against the Bulls with my Knicks. My two main rebounders are A.Randolph and Amar'e. At the end of the game I had 11 offensive rebounds and didn't really even rebound that well. Before, not once did I ever get above 10 offensive rebounds. This I feel is the perfect amount of rebounds for 9 min quarters and I played with the exact same slider set (100 OR, 0 DR) as before (with the patch). So, my offensive rebounding more than doubled after the removal of the patch. I also felt a lot more in control of the rebounds as if I timed it right with the right player, I would definitely get the rebound whereas before, it was kind of like a coin toss. I will be updating this for more tests as I play more games.

One game is not an ample sample size to start. You need more games than one.

People seem to be looking for faults with the patch. Overall, the patch was great for the game even though there are still things I think they should do better.

exactly. Kobe scored 81 against the Raptors one time, doesn't mean he will do it every time.

What I'm saying is that I don't think it's a coincidence that for the first time ever; I got over 10 offensive boards after I removed the patch!

The game has enough variance that you won't experience the same thing game to game... unless you become predictable.

Before posting this, you should have used a larger sample size - lets say 10-20 games. There's been games when I've been able to only grab about 2-3 offensive rebounds in my Association (all-star, 12 minutes) with Tim Duncan and/or Al Jefferson manning the 4 and 5. Then there's been games when I've grabbed 10-11 with a team.

Just because you deleted the patch and grabbed more boards in 1 game doesn't make it that the patch weakened offensive rebounding. It would be like removing the patch and shooting better from the field (for 1 game) and saying that the patch weakened shooting.

I don't feel like the patch weakened offensive rebounding, but to each his own?

Alright, I just played another game. Again, 9 min quarters and I grabbed 12 ORs. So, compared to my average (with the patch) of around 5, I think 12 is a huge improvement and is a very realistic figure. Before, I was getting nowhere near 12 boards, most I think was about 8 (and that game went into OT).

Well if it works for you, enjoy the game without the patch.

Others don't agree and will play the game with the patch.
