Defender recovery after pump-fake

So I pull off a perfect pump-fake, get my defender in the air, and try to drive to the basket, but find that the very same defender that I just put in the popcorn machine, somehow recovers instantaniously and is in front of me again. That was a long sentance! What's up with the inability to drive to the lane with some explosiveness? Anyone find a solution to this?

Re: Defender recovery after pump-fake

I Almost always jab step after pump faking. I believe that keeps ME from getting around defenders that I have in the air. Sometimes I even go the wrong way while they are in the air. I do have that same problem you have though. I don't get past them once I make them jump.

Been experiencing the same thing as well. You pretty much have to instantly figure out the proper direction in which to drive after getting the defender in the air and quickly execute before your defender gets magnetized back into position again. It's kinda strange.

Yes, this is a problem. Your player also seems to slow down as they drive into the paint also, like they're running with mud on their shoes.

Don't use Turbo after a pump fake. That's all I do and defense don't recover

It's been in 2k for a couple of years now. Not a lot you can do really. If it's baseline and you beat him the quicksand that appears will slow you down anyway. If the quicksand fails, the player you left in the dust will get up close enough to you to force a "contact shot" animation (jumper) so lay ins and dunks are out of the question regardless. This is primarily a baseline issue though.
