Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Midseason update on my Wizards association.

Standings
1. Celtics 26-13_____________________ 1. Lakers 29-13________ Raptors 7-33
2. Hawks 25-17 ______________________2. Nuggets 25-15 ______Suns 9-30
3. Heat 25-17 _______________________3. Rockets 25-16 _______ Hornets 13-28
4. Bulls 24-17 _______________________4. Mavericks 23-16
5. Bobcats 22-16 ___________________ 5. Spurs 24-17
6. Bucks 22-16 _____________________ 6. Warriors 22-17
7. Wizards 19-19 ____________________7. Thunder 21-19
8. Magic 20-21 _____________________8. Jazz 20-20

PPg leaders: ____________ MVP race
1. Kobe 30 _____________ 1. Kobe
2. Durant 28.9 ___________ 2. LeBron
3. Rose 28 _______________3. Wade
4.Lebron 27.9 ____________4. Pau (??)
5. Carmelo 27.2 __________ 5. Rose

AI Trades:

Suns Trade: Goran Dragic, '11 1st round
Knicks Trade: Anthony Randolph

Pistons Trade: Tracy McGrady, Will Bynum
Celtics trade: Kendrick Perkins

Pistons Trade: Ben Gordan, Jonas Jerebko
76ers Trade: Thaddeus Young, Jason Kapono

I like the Pistons (16-24) moves except for one major problem. They have zero depth in the backcourt now. Stuckey and Rip, that is all. But the amount of cap room they will have after this season is great. I expect them to move Villanueva next. Maybe for a guard. Either way they are in great shape for the offseason.

Celtics(26-13) I wonder about. 5 PGs, 4 SGs, 2 each of other positions. Their bench will eventually start rioting. 3 PGs on the bench over 70, plus T-mac. I will also watch them to see if they make any moves, although I think they should have never made any trades with the top spot in the east so far. But they definitely have the best trade assets in the league.

76ers (16-23) are a curious case. If they were in playoff contention this move would be good, but they have the same record as the Pistons, so why take on Gordan and his contract? Now they moved Turner to the bench and have yet to find a suitor for Brand. Sure they added another scorer and improved their bench play, but I would think that they would be thinking future. This trade screams "playoff push" to me.

Suns (9-30) have been making moves left and right but have yet to move Nash. So I like that. You wanna hear a incredible stat? Aside from Nash, the only other player who has more than 1 year remaining is Frye. Everyone else on the roster becomes a FA after this year. Everyone. (If the Suns decide not to exercise their options). Phoenix will limp to a bottom 5 record but could have a huge offseason. Don't like trading away their 1st though. Especially when it is almost certainly going to be top 5.

Raptors ( 7-33) are a head scratcher. Worst record in the league and they are doing nothing. Fired their coach but has not made any moves. Looking at their contracts. Uye. A lot of dead weight. It should be only a matter of time before they do something, but their big contracts are not appealing to other teams apparently. Team is in horrible shape.

A few random facts:
Reason for Orlando underperforming? Carter was lost for the season in the 2nd week. JJ is now starting at the 2. Damn.

Gasol broke his arm and will be lost for 6-8 weeks. rut-row. Lakers also made some curious moves. Acquired Stackhouse and Warrick from the Suns. Not sure I follow the reasoning. But it worked out now that Gasol went down. But not sure if I understand the reasoning for acquiring Warrick.

Great season so far. I like keeping up on the moves AI teams make.

Doubt it. My initial plan was to wait until the all star break and see if my team was contending. That was going to dictate whether or not I decided to shake up my team. Well I am about 3 weeks away from the all star game and I am in playoff contention.

I am going to wait until the offseason to make moves. I may trade Andray and Kirk for expiring contracts, but I doubt it. Any moves I may make will definitely happen the final week before the trade deadline though.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Simmed through my 2nd season with a lineup of Nash, Barnes, Prince, P.Jones and Motiejunas. Ended with a record of 52-30, tied best record in the league, lost the tiebreaker with the Lakers and got the 2nd seed in the West.

Lost in the WCF to the Lakers 4-2 but the improvement was so great that it didn't matter that we came so close, just happy to see such a huge turnaround.

Barnes won ROTY and P.Jones was award to the All-Rookie 1st team along with Barnes.

And the Phoenix pick I got in the Steve Nash trade turned into gold when I found out Phoenix had the 2nd worst record in the league and a high chance to win the lottery. Finally reached the lottery and was lucky enough to win it again and it set me up for a plan for the offseason.

I selected Michael Gilchrist with the 1st pick to become my starting SF and replace Prince. I resigned Nash to be a roleplayer with the idea of signing Chris Paul.

Finally got to the free agency period and Chris Paul had already resigned with New Orleans and is stuck in a 6 year deal with them and I'm left without a PG for the future. Denver did get desperate in the 2nd round though and traded away a 2013 1st round pick for one of my 2nd rounders.

Now armed with 3 first rounders (mine from 2013 and 2014 and Denver's 2013), I thought I would try and trade for a good PG but every offer for Darren Collison was turned down, every offer for Jennings was turned down and I didn't even bother looking at trying to trade for Paul or Williams.

Both the Pacers and Bucks wanted Barnes and/or P.Jones in the deal to get Collison or Jennings and that was never going to happen. There was not one good enough PG to sign in free agency either. Billups was the only PG rated better then Nash and it didn't feel like it would be much of an improvement because I had everything setup to sign Chris Paul but was thwarted at the last minute for whatever reason.

I kept checking his status and it kept saying it would be foolish of him not to test his value in the free agent market.

That means I will be looking to sign Brandon Jennings next summer but with being a restricted free agent, it's going to be difficult to sign him.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)

Started a new Association with the Cavs. First thing I did was trade Varejao, Williams, and Sessions for Beasley, Pekovic, Martell Webster and a 2011 2nd RD Pick. Then I traded Anthony Parker to the Spurs for Tiago Splitter and I traded Jamison and Gibson for Garnett, Scalabrine (who shouldn't even have been on the roster) and a 2012 2nd Rounde. Next I signed AI to a 1 yr. deal.

Allen Iverson
Martell Webster
Michael Beasley
Kevin Garnett
Tiago Splitter

I'm currently 2-2 I got off to a slow start getting blown out by the Pacers on opening night, I then beat the Suns and Hawks in a back to back, I then proceeded to get blown out by Wizards despite a strong showing by Martell Webster. AI has been playing well so far averaging 18 and 8, he had 32 and 12 against the Hawks. I struggled with Webster in the first game but I've picked it up and scored 25 against the Wizards making 5-10 from 3. Beasley was averaging 18ppg. before I played the Wizards and he only scored 2pts. which dropped his avg. to 14ppg. KG has been solid giving me 15 and 5. Tiago Splitter has been great averaging 11 and 7.
