I've seen white & black socks on the same home teams in pics (for example; bulls, magic, heat) so I'm hoping we can.

Hey man, I do not have the game but I have heard on a number of occasions from guys with the game that the generic players themselves are not editable in name or appearance. However, it is possible to create players (say, the real players missing from the classic teams) then trade them to the classic team of choice in place of the generic guy.

Long story short, you can fill out the rest of the classic rosters with the correct players (albeit created versions).
