A couple of things:

The lockout wont happen for an entire season. The players always cave because they live above their means.

In 2000, Live released in November and the only reason that it released that late is because EA decided to use a extra month to work on the game .

I'm right with you though. In 2000, I still played the heck out of Live even during the lockout.

The new features and stuff are great but at the end of the day most of these features are geared towards improving CPU Logic and making the CPU be as realistic as possible. No matter how many features and logic you add at the end of the day you will never completely replicate the thrill and entertainment that comes with actually competing and running a team against other actual users. Theres just an immense sense of satisfaction in pulling off a trade with another user and negotiating that will never really feel like wash rinse and repeat. the Competition, the fact that users can get better, the satisfaction cant really be replicated with a CPU.

I only brought up madden because its practically a huge example of how even a bare bones franchise mode online can be that much more exciting to run because of user interaction. NCAA takes it a step further, have you tried their online dynasty mode? it has recruiting, etc, the whole nine yards.

I know that 2k is capable of implementing something of the sort, resources are not an issue because they can use the same type of system. you simply host the association on a server and let people run it online and it all becomes simple data input. make a trade, sign a player, etc. and the information goes to the server.

Hopefully they actually do have something like this in the works and will be announced in the Online Insight. It was disappointing enough that Madden didnt implement a more fleshed out version like the one in NCAA but for a sports game to not have it at all is just a huge omission in an industry that is mostly dominated by online gaming.

Once again not trying to hate, but its close to a deal breaker for me and disappointing for many people. Some will not care and thats fine. just wanted to voice my concern so that its taken into account next year.
How can something that isn't in any other basketball game be a deal breaker? Have you just skipped every other game in the series?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

He would just rather keep his money. He sees no need to purchase a new game. Deal broken...

They've already addressed the gameplay problems so I'm not sure why you're complaining about that stuff in this thread. Whether they end up working well or not is one thing but the improvements to the gameplay have been talked about.

I'm confused and I feel like I shouldn't be, but I'll ask anyhow: with the lockout falling in the 1998-99 season, that would not have affected NBA Live 2000, right? Were you referring to the Antoine Walkered NBA Live '99?

Everything sounds really great. I was just wondering about player improvement. Do we still have to play little training games to improve given players and attributes? It would be great if improvement depended on a combination of time in practice ( especially since you can now run intrasquad scrimmages) and game day performances. And what about practice? Will it still be implemented the same way, or is there something new in store for us? Just a few questions that I know will be answered in a couple of weeks.
