Hypothetical: ESPN license or Turner Sports License?

Let's say, take-two/2k were out shopping for a sports license to "enhance " the broadcast quality of their game. ESPN licensing deal has expired with ea and now everything is fair play.

would you rather them get a) tnt license or b) espn and why?

and please keep this to licensing and on topic. None of that( I prefer them spend that on classic teams, better gameplay, etc) Yeah, we know that, that's why this is just a hypothetical question!

gargh, typo on the poll, I obviously meant ESPN

Although I like the presentation on both, and like the commentary team of ESPN better, if they could somehow get a halftime show with Kenny, EJ, and Charles, that would be amazing

If i had to pick it would probably be TNT but i honestly think they don't need either.

The work they have done this year with creating a 2k presentation is phenomenal and shows that you don't need a tv network licence to implement great presentation in a sports video game.

I agree, but inside the nba would be nice wouldn't it?!

This is a good question, but I cannot imagine a video game halftime show capturing anything even semi-authentic about the off-the-cuff entertainment Kenny, Chuck, and Ernie provide. Without Inside the NBA, that sort of just leaves the TNT style scoreboard, some transitional wipes and TNT music. . .which would be pretty cool.

Still, I think ESPN would have more tangible effects to offer overall, assuming 2K used their rights properly (as in, full utilization, which they've done before with their NFL title). SportsCenter, sound effects, camera angles, familiar ESPN style graphics everywhere. . .ESPN gets my vote.

ESPN. The music, the commentary team, the whole template for overlays and graphics is laid out for you and familiar to anyone who is a sports fan. They cover the NBA Finals, pretty much the A-Team. The Half-time would also be great, as TNT brings a style that can't translate to games. ESPN's halftime is straightforward, highlights & stats.

Never been a fan of Harlan and I think Kellogg's commentary is horrible. He was better in Konami's series lol.

Yes, but instead of having after every game they could use it as a weekly show in association..... that would be sick!

Good thread!!!

Personally i like turner alot better because when i watch espn bball it seems a lil bit rehearsed and generic(except for jvg). Whereas turner everything has a good flow from the commentators(except reggie) all the way to the postgame show it all seems candid, which seems more like 2k's strength
