NOTE: This is not "which is better"! I'm just noting differences.

So, since we're talking about presentation, let's look at those. So lets say a shot is made. The camera "cuts" and shows the shooter turning and running back to the defensive end. Both games have these, what I call "get back on defense" sequences. In the EA games, the screen will go black for a moment. To me, that says that they are loading in the sequence. Whether it's animations or a high detailed player model or whatever, it's a load sequence. The VC game doesn't do that. You never really leave the court unless it's a replay. Same for free throws. So, it's not that the EA engine is doing something bad. It's SOP actually and they do it well. But it's interesting what the VC engine has been able to do over the years and it doesn't get much pub. Like I said in my other post - it's just funny when you think about all of the hating VC took for "porting" basketball back in the day.
Well it wasn't until 2K7 that they starting doing that. It makes a huge difference, just looking at Elite's substitution cutscene in the videos. May be SOP but it's pretty off putting IMO. In Live 10, you couldn't even effectively make subs during freethrows, because the menu would close when the cutscene changed before and between shots.

IIRC most of the hate for porting or calling for a new engine came down to not understanding how the game was built. I think people (myself included) just didn't know how flexible and extensible their engine is, and once they added the new texturing engine in 2K9 most piped down.

It is funny to me though that in an Elite thread, someone ridiculed some part of Live 96(?) code was in Live 07, but i'd assume the same could be said for 2K & 2K11. The age of the code doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things if it's doing its job.

About the half-time show, i haven't seen a decent one since NFL 2K5 and can't say i'm expecting good things from this Damon Bruce guy.

Im not trying to be funny or anything, but it would be totally inexcusable for VC/2k to be using code from NBA Fastbreak on the PS1 or Genesis games into this Nex Gen stuff.

Especially if it was broken then and broken now.. that was what 2 gen's ago.. thats insane.

Regardless though, 2k7, even ID set a standard on some things and there is no turning back. We shouldnt be looking at games from 3 years ago saying they were more advanced than now.

We've seen a company do more with less year after year and at this point the excuses are moot, null and void to people now.

This is definitely what the game could use to make it that much better. I can't wait to see how they present this in the game.

Haha that is just the best! The cover for NBA Elite 11 is pretty sick though. Other than that I wouldn't touch the game.

Yeah what I'm surprised at though is that LeBron hasn't graced the cover of either 2K or NBA Live. I'm glad he hasn't though because I'm not a fan of his. I was hoping KD would eventually be on the cover of 2K though.
