I gotcha. Just responding to questioning my thoughts, nothing more.

Yeah I know, I just meant in general, and I dont want this 2k preview to turn into a thread that needs to be locked because thats what will happen.

Anyhow, 2k is always quiet until the end, you can count on that but with the addition of MJ I wonder if they'll do more advertising this year.

Basketball says not to pass into heavy traffic. NBA 2K encourages you to.

Basketball says to runs plays to get a high percentage shots. NBA 2K says run plays if you like taking end of shot clock desperation heaves.

Basketball says if the ball makes contact with the hand, the ball should be deflected. NBA 2K says there are exceptions to this rule.

Basketball says Shaq should never shoot a 3-pointer, ever. NBA 2K's Shaq will pop the 3 if take one step back.

Basketball says off-ball defenders should be ready to help at any time. NBA 2K help defenders come over when LeBron is already in mid-air.

I think you get my drift; NBA 2K is nothing close to basketball.
2 days ago just for the heck of it I played as cheesy as one can possibly play. I was on the road as the Magic against the AI CPU Lakers. Hall of Fame difficulty with default sliders and 12 min quarters.

I was extremely surprised just how rewarding cheese basketball is in 2K10. I kept spamming the steal button(key to not get reach-in fouls is bump the offensive player first then quickly press steal button) as well as lead passes, run no offense, fastbreak at will, bypass camera zoom after a made basket etc etc.

I had a double digit lead for the majority of the game and won 178-163 or something like that. At the end of the 1st Quarter I scored 51 points.

Some things I noticed:

-One certain steal animation where the offensive player loses the ball. When this occurs near the sideline it seems like the defender poked it last but instead the offensive player did. This animation needs to go.

-Off-ball D is extremely weak. Out of 10 I would rank it 3 out of 10. Defenders carelessly lose their man, no resistance is offered when offensive players cut to the basket, its a mess.

-Fastbreaks are almost a guaranteed 2 points for me. In fact when I play against AI CPU I force myself to never run fastbreaks, I always run plays. One reason is AI CPU cannot do canimation blocks human users can.

-With the ball in hand using turbo, running around the defender is the same speed as going straight at the defender. A physical impossibility. Hoping this will be fixed in 2K11.

I see why cheesers play the way they do. Its more rewarding compared to sim style when it should be the opposite.

To me though, a realistic game=a fun game. Not the other way around. Hoping 2K11 will fit that motto.

well so far we heard very little on the offensive side of things in nba 2k11 and i have to admit that am impressed by the littlle.but what i hope is that the defensive side of things get shaken up just as much.

Trey, they were planning to re-work the dribbling right after they finished 2k10 and before Wang jumped ship. They are not copying anyone. As Phil Jackson would say "Give them some (expletive) credit".

What made my eyes open wide was the fact that they mentioned somebody already had plans of what to do if MJ ever signed on with 2k.

I wonder what that will be?

Maybe a 1 on1 competition? Or Re-live MJ's career through My Player?
