Defensive Settings Ideas To Stop Random/Horrible Rotations?

Hi,

It doesn't seem to matter whether I use man-to-man or a zone, my computer controlled teammates are not very intelligent on D. I'm in an Association, playing against the CPU, and the CPU gets waaaaaaay too many open 3's against me because my players lack the basketball IQ of a 5th grader.

Here is a good example:

In overtime, I'm covering the other teams PG with Nash... he's at the top of the key. He tries to drive, but I'm there to stop him with Nash, plus my center is right behind me, cheating off his man a little to stop the potential drive. As soon as their PG starts to drive, Pietrus (my SF, who is covering Michael Redd) runs HALF WAY ACROSS THE COURT to try and help the drive D (which he would have been too late for anyway) leaving Redd WIIIIIDE open. Redd got the ball, missed the shot... I ended up losing the game anyway... life goes on haha.

But plays like the one I just painted... they happen through out the course of the game, one after the other. Players are making rotations that don't make ANY sense- there is no bball explanation for a lot of these rotations, so the only reason I can come up with is that the CPU really wants to score so it toys with my players

Anyways... sorry for the rant. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've never had this problem with any of my last gen (original Xbox) bball games- this is my first season on the 360. Can anyone recommend any settings I can tinker with to see if it helps?

Thanks!

Preaching to the choir, man. That s*** happens to me all the time(PS3). I put double-team at 'never', I play tight the entire game, but it doesn't help.

Re: Defensive Settings Ideas To Stop Random/Horrible Rotations?

yep. I just can't stop the CPU without just lowering the shooting sliders way down and watching them clank. The defensive rotations are horrible. I turn of defensive help, I have "never" as the setting for double team, and they still help out. And I have yet to figure out why the PF and C seem to think that their defensive assignments are interchangeable. I swear 10-12 times a game my C or PF (whichever one I'm not controlling) will just randomly pick up my guy and if I don't notice it immediately when coming down court, it results in any easy layup for their bigs. And then you have the PG who feels a need to guard the paint even when there are other players down the court too. So my center is coming down last and so is his man and yet my PG still drops back under the basket while the opposing team's PG suddenly is running free and I'm stuck with a mismatch of a seven footer on the PG. The AI for defense is just so awful. And yet I think it's better than last year. I know I've gone from winning 150-140 in 2k8 to winning 115-110 in 2k10. I just think defense is really, really hard to program. 2k has to hear the complaints. They have to know that the AU defense sucks. So I give them the benefit of the doubt that it's just hard, especially since defense always sucks in Live as well. I'm just hoping that it will continue to get atleast slightly better each season and that someday when I'm old and gray and lack the reflexes to play, they'll have a decent defensive AI.

I think it would help to if there was more contact, like was stated in another thread. More bumping in the paint, the perimeter, bumping the cutters. I find it weird that if I get tangled up with the ref on the baseline, I can be out of the play for 3 and 4 seconds, but 6 ft pgs shrug off picks from 280 pound centers.

That last paragraph is word for word what I think. They can throw it in the paint whenever they want because there is no contact whatsoever other than when you don't want it.
