Initiating Contact -- A Way to Revolutionize Finishing at the Rim.

I feel that I have come up with an idea that will revolutionize the way that players finish at the rim, and also the way defense is played at the basket.

My thought is simple, and this: While driving to the basket, hold LT and flick the shot stick, and your player will try to initiate contact, draw a foul, and finish strong. This is not to say a foul is going to be called everytime however, but your player is going to "go hard". An offensive foul is a definite risk.

However, if you DONT hold LT, your player will try to avoid contact, and finish in a flashy style. It may be a wise decision for Steve Nash to avoid contact with Dwight Howard at the rim and have a flashy finish, whereas Lebron is going to go right at him and go strong.

Shaq is rarely going to go flashy (and if he does, the results wont be as good) and Chris Paul is rarely going to try to posterize someone. How many times in 2k10 do we drive the lane with Paul, only to have the worst animation take place where he just goes straight into a body of a defender with no wiggle??

That will hopefully be in the past.

I think this simple aspect will help the amount of fouls increase and increase free throws. It will also give you more control as to how you want to attack the basket. There's times I want Kobe to posterize someone, and there's times I want him to showcase his athleticism and pull off a sick reverse. Now we would have the ability to do so.

This is why I think OS members should have more of a say with these games...

Darn good idea, OP

I see your vision, LT might be a good way to do it.

The problem is there and needs fixing. I want to be able to choose how I finish not have ONE package of dunks layups that depend on which direction I pick on LS and RS.

But like you said, I want a whole new set of packages for when I trigger them with LT that has me take a risk but rewarding me with highlights.

I'd call it the H-LT(Highlight Left Trigger )

props to the OP

I thought Shot stick Left/Right/Away were for avoiding contact? And shot stick towards the basket was to force contact and/or dunk on?

I dont think so...but I could be wrong. And if so, it is horribly implemented.
