The Fourth Quarter?

Has anyone noticed completely unrealistic / ridiculous / lopsided CPU scoring in the fourth quarter?

I've been tweaking my sliders for the past couple of days and just played 2 games (12 minute quarters) where everything was just fine until the fourth quarter hit and the CPU could not miss.

In game 1 I was the Hornets (default roster) playing the Celtics, I can post the breakdown of the quarter by quarter score later, but at the end of 3 the score was 67-64 Hornets, with Boston shooting 44% from the field and New Orleans (me) shooting 41% from the field.

The game ends with the final score 100-92 and I see that the Celtics managed to drop 36 pts in the fourth.

In game 2 I was the Hornets (traded Peterson + Brown for Garcia) playing the Blazers and at the end of 3 the score was 79-76 Hornets, i ended up losing 111-104.

Long-story short in game 1 the CPU dropped 36 pts in the fourth after averaging 21.3 ppg through 3 quarters, in game 2 the CPU dropped 35 pts in the fourth after averaging 25.3 ppg through three quarters.

This is only a two game sample size so I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed if computer scoring / efficiency significantly goes up in the fourth quarter, and if they have found a way to "fix" it?

Game 2 literally had me wanting to throw the control at something and cursing at the game...

Yeah, its kinda like how most of the cpus buzzer beaters go in. Its something they put in the game on purpose and I'm not sure why.

Re: The Fourth Quarter?

I just played the Heat as the Knicks in my Association and I outscored them 42-26 in the 4th in a losing effort. So it is possible for them to play average in the 4th.

I was using Yellz slider set, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Try turning down the clutch attribute?

Re: The Fourth Quarter?

A few days ago I played a game where I came into the 4th down 3 and then outscored the CPU 49-19 to win by 27.

I think the superior team, overall, tends to get a bump to help them close out an inferior team.

Re: The Fourth Quarter?

This happens to me when I play with the Thunder or Rockets, because they have weak benches I overplay the starters and by the 4th they are stuffed. I would be 8-10 points in front going into the 4th and the CPU would start hitting shots while I would miss everything.

I always thought it was because my guys where tired... that could be another reason.

Re: The Fourth Quarter?

Normaly I get the 4th qtr run...then I play Boston so maybe it depends on who has the better team. But its not every game...
Look at last nights games box scores, im sure u will find a few games with 4th qtr runs. Its normals in the NBA, so its ok in the game. I see no point complaining here.

Try turning off clutch factor. I think it helps if you have a problem

Re: The Fourth Quarter?

I find this to be more of a problem in the 3rd quarter. I played 3 games in my season yesterday with very even games going into the half. In all three games the CPU came out of the half on absolute fire.

The Hawks ran off a 13-0 to start the 3rd, I lost the game. The Heat ran of a 23-3 run, I was able to come back and win the game barely, and the Nuggets ran off a 10-2 start, I lost the game.

I've always found the 3rd quarter to be incredibly lopsided in the CPU's favor in every iteration of 2K's B-ball games.
