I seem to get owned either way....Is it best to control one player or try to play the ball handler?

What are the pro's and con's?....I am talking about playing the cpu on all-star.

Both!!! Use Icon switching for players on defense to protect the paint/get over screens and pay attention to everyone on the floor. Manually contest shots don't let the cpu do it.

Yeah, both. What I tend to do is defend with the same player I took the shot with on offense. Sometimes I'm on-ball, sometimes I'm not. But I'm definitely NOT switching guys on D so that I'm always playing the ball.

I've been sticking to controlling one player the entire time on defense. There does seem to be a improvement, although it may just be a placebo effect.

You are right. This is a no no in 2k10. If anybody can do this without struggling on defense then I would like to know. And I will give them props.

Re: On ball or off ball defense? What is the consensus?

The thing that's hard to do when not playing the ball is trying to switch to the shooter before he releases but I'm talking about in human vs. human not ai. I very seldom see the ai defender challenge a shot when playing human vs. human games. This leads to wide open shots.

I stand a better chance playing the ball most of the time then switch when it's in the air for the rebound hopefully.

I just started playing 2k10, but after 3 games I prefer off ball defense to get pass interceptions and rebounds.

Maybe on ball defense is better for experienced players, but to be it is difficult at the moment.
