2K8 or 2K9?

I played 2K8 today for the first time in months, and it was a breath of fresh air. In 2K8, i just feel like players play closer to their tendencies, and most important I feel like I actually have control over my player. Many people here seem like 2K9 was a poorly made game with countless flaws. So, do you prefer 2K8, or 2K9?

Explain why or why not.

Re: 2K8 or 2K9?

I prefer 2K9 just a little more than 2K8. I play Player-lock, so I really need the AI to do just a bit more than normal. In 2K8, the play diagram wouldn't show up for you unless you controlled the player with the ball. That's fixed in 2K9 and shows up for the player you are controlling.

In 2K9, your teammates seem to play a bit smarter too. They move around more, so things don't get stagnant.

2K9 feels like there are a bit more canned animations that get you in trouble sometimes, like on defense you get drawn into a canned animation for a foul. That sucks, and it can also cause you to feel less in control of your player than 2K8. It just a little worse than 2K8 in this way. The Isomotion control feels a bit harder too, but I'm not a big crossover, dribble freak, so it's not a huge deal for me. I probably just haven't taken enough time to figure out enough moves anyway.

They're really close though. Both are good games in my opinion. And just like every year, I'm saying,"If they'd only fix this and this and add this, then it would be perfect!" But just like every year, 2K10 will have Problems A and B and I'll just have to look forward to 2K11.

I guess that's how they make money. If they fixed all the problems in a B-ball game, you wouldn't by the next season. I think they intentionally make each version a little better, but a little worse at the same time.

Re: 2K8 or 2K9?

I choose 2K8 by a longshot. I feel like I have more player control in 2K8. In 2K9 when driving to the hole or going for a steal my guy tends to go out of control and lose track.

***Attention to developers****
In 2K10 please make it run smoother when it comes to controlling your players and not like 2K9. For example when going for a steal or driving to the hole I don't want my player going out of control. Better player control please!

Controls are suspect in 2k9, but I still prefer it to 2k8.

Re: 2K8 or 2K9?

I'm still playing 2k8... I've only played 2k9 at a friend's house. I just finished my third full season with the Bulls and am still having a blast with it. Imported draft classes from CH2k8 + Benicio's sliders with a couple of tweaks = basketball goodness.
