Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (PS3 Only For Now)

If I had to describe this game in one sentence, I'd say "this is basketball". In other words this is the closest representation of the sport that I have ever seen.
Graphics are phenomenal. Arguably the best graphics I've seen in a sports game. Definitely the best looking crowd. Player models, movement, faces and nuances are hella realistic. Had to adjust my set because it looked a tad colorful. Other than that, jaggies do exist, but only in the menus. 9/10.
Gameplay is 2k. We all know that that means it's the best. The cpu player movement is off the chain. Like I said earlier "this is bball". I caught Kobe on a back door cut and he did his patented reverse one handed dunk. I literally dropped my controller. I dunno tho. It might be easier to score, because the cpu players move and get open so much, it seems that if you're quick enough and time you're passes properly you can always get an open shot. Then again I'm sure it gets tougher at higher levels. I've never been great with isomotion but I haven't been able to get the moves down as of yet. Need practice I guess. Love the ability to play off and shade your man on defense. Cpu seems aggressive enough that it will hit its shots if you slack on D. 9/10
Presentation. The team intros, the highlights and the announcer is pretty cool. Not enough in the demo to give a score.
All in all I'm very happy with this limited demo. I think we'll all be pretty happy this year

I will have to download the 360 version just to compare, though I'm already getting it on 360 anyway.

Man I'm using the Lakers and can't do any iso moves with Kobe at all...I was pumped up about the iso moves after watching the trailers...I can't pull off anything. I think I need to pop 2k8 back in and make sure it isn't just me.

I just had a ball tie up, reach in foul. Sweetness

At first I was kind of mad about the new defensive system. I'm so used to holding the left trigger to automatically shut down the offensive player that it was frustrating to have Derek Fisher blow straight past Rondo for an easy layup. Something really neat I've noticed about the lock-on D now is that you can set how loose or tight you'll play your man depending on how close to him you are when you hold down the trigger.

Definitely better than the Live demo. But I do feel like shooting fouls are being called too easily.

This has to be the best I've ever seen this game.
The player models are more proportionate to the players heads than last year.
The game last year was not this clear. WOW what a difference. I only wish there was a baseline low camera in the demo. I'm sure there is one in the full game though.
The playability is alot smoother too. Last year demo. I wasn't impressed. This year is completely different I'm just impressed on the graphics, the crowd interaction, the gameplay, I'm going to have to get these controls down alot better though LOL.

I sure hope the DNA and roster updates are going to be on par though.

Bottomline I will be getting this game.

Thanks 2K
