Re: NBA 2K9 Video: Bulls vs. Cavs

I'm going to be spending way too much time in replay because of all the little things it looks like 2K's crammed into the game. The job they've [seemingly] done with the AI shouldn't go underappreciated - while there has been a couple times where you could question the cpu decision-making from any of the vids shown to date, by and large there have been no "what the hell?" moments. And even more impressive because many of the comparisons/expectations being made aren't to what's been done in games, it's direct comparisons to what might occur in a real life game, what the players might do in a real life situation. It could easily be mistaken that the cpu play is an actual human playing - smart, but not too precise as it makes you realize you're playing AI. And even MORE impressive that much of the video we've seen likely hasn't been from heavily tuned slider sets, let alone patches. Factor in the user/team gameplay customization options that have been said to have been included and it seems like they may have made the most scalable sports game to date. Of course they're not rocket scientists so the expectation shouldn't be flawless artificial intelligence - even rocket scientists haven't figured that out. But for a videogame, what they've done is looking damn impressive. Will have to see full games/different situations to make proper judgment on the AI of course

+ can't wait to get my hands on the new shot stick

+ atmosphere is incredible. LOVE the thundersticks on the Deng free throw attempts, and how the crowd volume slowly increases as he's getting ready to shoot - then dies down when he makes it. Then slowly ramps up for the next attempt. And how the home crowd reacts appropriately when Lebron is at the line. Just looking at those two plays displays the incredible amount of detail that's gone into the game, from Lebron biting his nails to Deng wiping sweat from his forehead. I remember being amazed at the work 2K did with the coaches animations and reactions during the game back in 2K7 - can't wait to see what they've added for this game; yet another little thing that gets overlooked because of the overall quality put into every facet of the gameplay. Post play reactions are very well done

+ really like how Nocioni finished the break near the end of the vid. And for all the criticism the announcers get, I think it's at least decent and perhaps good. I like Harlan's trademark "to take the lead" call on the Nocioni fast break. While it doesn't seem to be as good as the announcing done in Live, I don't see how it's as horrible as it's sometimes made out to be.

+ I think this game must look stunning in HD - can't wait to get it in hand

- going to be a loooong wait for Oct. 7th

Agreed...

**love the cleaner look to the player models / courts / coaches

**seems as though shots have been re-vamped (i.e., Lebron James - THANKS!!)

**LOVE the detail on the "refs" this year....I actually saw one of the refs start moving his hands COUNTING the 5-count after he handed the ball to the out-of-bounds player!!! (that was NOT in 2K8)
