NBA 2K22 CPU Defender Plays tight on ball defense on everyone (regardless of shooting

This was an issue that has come back from NBA 2K19 and it was never patch back then. The CPU plays everyone close like you’d expect for Steph and Dame… but not Shaq and Ben Simmons

I ran some quick test. You can see what I mean for yourselves.

When every defender is Gary Payton mixed with Champ Bailey the AI will guard Simmons or Shaq 30 feet out. There is no downside to it.

I can press people full court with Trae Young and make them pick up their dribble. Once they get the speed right this should help against the Nolan Richardson coached AI.

Somebody tweet Czar about this. I'm sure he'll at least look into it if it can be patched.

Yeah it really does suck that the defense doesn’t have to give up anything. It seems like people don’t even care that this issue exists.

You can see they’re complaining about things like there being no mid range game and no way to run drop coverage, but the reason these issues even exist is because the CPU is running everyone tight.

Definitely gonna try to get this issue looked at by the Czar.

Any updates on this guys its really grating on me as an offline player... CPU defenders are seemingly playing everyone tight/smother and also even worse they actually always pick them up from just about half court no matter who it is...

Like...guys shouldn't be playing up on someone like Kyrie and not getting blown by.. Have no idea what has happened here would love if the big Czar can chime in.

Can you go into the other team’s settings and manually make them play looser off ball?

I am seeing this issue too. I have played 5 myNBA games and cannot even score because I cannot pass anyone open or ball fake a clearance. Pump fake gets a defender in the air but the whole animation sequence on my player is so slow that the defender recovers and resumes his tight coverage. I tried tweaking the on ball setting by dropping it to 40 that helped at least get a few more open shots and drives to the goal.
