as long as the contextual awareness doesn't make me move the ball into the other hand without me crossing it or moving the right stick i will be happy lol

Sounds like what Live used to do, singling out specific players to make super animations for them; meanwhile who they deem not special get general animations

I really like the idea of re-introducing signature dribble animations. It brings so much more life to the game, especially with classic players. When I'm playing as certain players, I want to know that it's them, so that Isiah Thomas doesn't just feel like a generic 90+ rated player with Isiah skin. I love things that set players apart from others.

Here's hoping it's implemented well.

Think he said there are like 27 styles

That's something that I'm sure they can add to in the future

Would love to see Magics leaning dribble apart from say Derrick Rose's although I'm sure Rose isn't one of the captured styles but you get the point

Right on. Here's the list from the Gameplay blog:

I'm pretty interested to see these in motion. There's been certain players for a couple years now—Tim Hardaway was the biggest one for me—where you choose their team because you're hoping to see Tim Hardaway be Tim Hardaway but he can't be Tim Hardaway without his signature UTEP-2-Step and his otherwise compact and unique approach to ball-handling.

I'm really hoping it ends up being something where it brings a bit of personality to these guys, so there's incentive to using guys like Tim Hardaway - and maybe even some skill involved in mastering his specific signature style.

Then again, since I haven't see it in action, I don't want to overstate my expectations. But here's hoping it's the start of something cool.

It does that all the time in 2K19 though whether you’re walking across halfcourt after inbounding or dribbling across the top of the key

He specifically stated that for 2K20 they want players to be able to successfully create space off the dribble without having to use the right stick, which is essentially what they tried last year but the difference now is that they put in signature animations to use in that manner. So the way Bron dips his head below his shoulder and puts his body into the defender when he drives the lane, or how PG gets separation off a step back is all going to be visible using the left stick alone (in combination with the right trigger as well)

I just hope that we can assign these dribbling styles to other players the way we already can with crossovers/sizeups/behind the back dribbles/etc. for the animation variety. I am the kind of guy that will go into edit player and customize the free throw and dunk package animations for all 14 players on the roster in myleague lol it really adds variety to the game, really happy with everything they’ve said about dribbling so far.
