My frustration has finally happened

This is not a bash 2K thread. This is a plea for help. I am an offline player. Have played the series for many years. This game for me is a combination of love of basketball and video games. Year after year I have played for enjoyment and relaxation from the day to day grind. MyLeague is my grind.

Every year I couldn't wait to watch videos and learn from Da Czar, Sam Pham, and Kingslayer. Get tidbits from the SimWorld crew or VannWolfHawk or 24 on how the game works and better ways to improve my enjoyment of 2K. This community of ours is really amazing.

Now I have watched this game evolve from NBA sim game to a streetball competition. I'm not here to blast those who love this evolution. The appeal of Mycareer and MyTeam I get why people love it. In another time I probably would too. I Understand why 2K would make these modes to appeal to different demos. Once again I get.

But this is my frustration.
Why would you forget about the OG's who have played this game from the beginning ?
Why would you forget about the Myleague and offline players ?
Why do we have to play a game that is tuned for online and not sim basketball ?
Why do we have to play a game where the CPU constantly drive to paint and makes every shot but the user cant make a layup.
Why do we have to play a game that CPU makes every deflection and steal and is psychic.

The list goes on and on. My point is Da Czar said don't play video games play basketball. I waited a month and played and tried to learn. The devs said it was a steep learning curve on this game. To play and adjust and you will get better. I started at rookie and worked my way up to All Star. I am stuck. Unable to pass, run plays, and defend.

Watched all the tutorials and Sim Nation videos. Played practice mode worked on my shooting and handles. Learned my Phoenix Suns plays and practiced.
Then I play and get frustrated by CPU spamming the paint, but I cant. Frustrated watching the CPU do dribble moves in paint and I cant. Frustrated watching CPU constantly doing dribble moves and blow by you but you cant.
Frustrated watching user get defensive stops and a miracle rebound goes to CPU or steal.
Frustrated watching CPU get every loose ball steal and deflection.

So the reason for this post is threefold.
One, to voice my frustration to 2k
Two, to listen to the forum and see am I the only.
Three, advice on how to get better and see how other members have adjusted.

This is not blast 2K post. This is a I want to love this game post, but my frustration has kicked.

What am I to do now ?

PS: For those who will answer and say get your stick skills up or anything else derogatory, thanks you are, well thanks.

For those who see this for the honest need for help and answers I am looking for. Thanks, you are who im really speaking to , and are greatly appreciated.

NBA 2K is an arcade game this year, you have to play it like one. There's nothing sim about this game once you get up to all-star. Only way to help this game is sliders. My most hated 2k of all time.

Lol I don’t think it’s tuned for online either. It seems to me that more offline players are enjoying this iteration than online. I don’t think the CPU players behaving a certain way would have anything to do with online tuning honestly.

The only mode I play offline is Mycareer and it seems really corny this year on Superstar or HoF. The CPU players score on each other seemingly regardless of the defense. It’s really strange to watch since I don’t recall ever seeing the game play like this. A TON of bad shots fall for both teams in the plays I’m not involved with. Maybe the lower difficulties are more organic but the higher ones don’t really resemble real basketball at all.

It's time for My Career to be a standalone game like Fortnite. There's plenty of money to be made and that model proves it. I'd love 2K to focus on the Franchise mode but greed has taken a front seat IMO. Truly disappointed and I regret purchasing this game. Loyalty is good until the other side proves it doesn't deserve it.

Sage you are absolutely correct. There is nothing sim about this so far. The problem with tinkering with sliders is , once you find or make a set that works for you, then you start receiving all the different tuning updates. Then you get stuck in the slider rabbit hole instead of playing the game.

Think some offline players enjoy because they really deep dive into the game. I wish I could be one of those guys. I am average player who plays when kids and wife are asleep.

Tried MyCareer but it became a little boring after a month of the NBA season. I did enjoy the prelude. Playnow didn't like the tier system and the cheese. Played some Pro Am but it was wait forever for a team. Then I don't play a lot online so not enough friends to squad up.

Offline just felt defeated. I can except a loss because of my mistakes. Don't like feeling constantly cheated. It just doesn't feel like basketball.

Re: My frustration has finally happened

I am really enjoying 2K19 but I can't wait for some good sliders!

I play allstar offline, Play Now, just waiting for the season to start and opening day roster to drop.

The CPU throws perfect passes 75+ feet to teammates under the basket. I don't know how many times my defenders (gets beat on back doors) are in great position on passes into the paint and they just watch the ball. No attempt to deflect or steal it.

Clipping is still a huge issue and one of the main reasons the CPU gets away with scoring a lot in the paint.

The CPU still gets more steals, Off rebounds, and PIP. These are legacy issues.

That's where the frustration comes from. I admire 2K for trying to give a mode for everyone. I just think it has failed the offline/online MyLeague players. Its now for the MyCareer / Pro-Am people. we are forgotten.

I listened to Sim Nation podcast earlier in the year. Mazique was stating that young kids didn't even know or had played MyLeague. Da Czar said that resources had to go to the most popular modes and MyLeague especially offline was at the bottom because it was the least played mode.

I guess I am a dying breed. So they will say its not greed. Its appealing to the mass. That may be true. I just miss playing with teams and the closest they could get to sim gaming.

When I spoke on the tuning. I meant if they tune some park or Pro Am does also effect so offline tuning.
