Would You Play a WNBA Mode If It Were Added To The Game?

As we get hyped for release day, I came across a Gamespot article throwing out a question to a developer who responded how it would be too much work to implement the WNBA into NBA 2K.

Which is fine! Because we'd obviously want it to be done right, and we also wouldn't want it to hurt development of the rest of the game.

However, I want to ask that if we lived in an ideal place where 2K did present a WNBA mode and it had no effect on the rest of development somehow, and it was an accurate representation of women's basketball, would you play it?

I think it would be such a huge boon for the WNBA, fans of either league, and gamers if the inclusion was ever made.

Games are what got me actually invested and thoroughly interested in the NBA growing up (and a lot of the sports that I consume in general). Learning about rosters and players strengths and weaknesses, etc. etc. It's my favorite sport to follow to this day. I can watch a WNBA game from time-to-time, but I certainly don't seek it out.

But if I were to jump into a WNBA MyLeague, I'd start to have a more intimate connection with that league and I think that effect would generate a lot more interest in the WNBA in the long-term.

Speaking of long-term, would someone please think of the children!? Joking, but really I think that it would really help sow the seeds of fandom in the WNBA for kids.

So just asking the community that really seems to overall enjoy the NBA 2K series, would you play a WNBA mode?

Oh boy. You thought the toxic gamer crowd was upset about women in their shooters, wait until women start taking off from the FT line...


I'm not saying it's right or fair, but 2K does not want to open up that box. Not nearly enough girls buy their game to make it worth their while.

I would love to play with WNBA players with my daughter.

Growing up playing Madden I knew players from every NFL team and I became immersed in the sport in unbelievable ways. Being a football guy, 2K never came naturally to me. But playing the game extensively for the past three years has given me enough perspective to enjoy the game more as a spectator.

I think that experience would be great for my daughter, who plays video games with me all the time.

Probably not. Mostly because I play MyLeague and know nothing about the WNBA outside of their stars.

As a fan of the WNBA, I would absolutely play it and especially with Franchise Mode. Look at the playoff games that happened last night as evidence, the league needs more exposure. I would welcome it and 2K would actually do it justice.
