let's talk walk-up dribbling.

in 2k17, when u feathered the left stick (walked) and combo'd dribble moves simultaneously, the ai would steadily drp back protecting the drive. this was great because with elite slashers, u had the option of taking a jumper.

now the ai just plays u tight all of the time. with the easy blow-by mechanics, it makes things pretty dull. it would be great if the sagging off could be programmed back in, it provided some nice realism when using iso players in the perimeter. as a mater of fact, this could be a decent idea of a fix for those easy blow bys that people complain about.

anyway, has anyone else noticed this? I think walk up dribbles were mentioned in one of the blogs, but they're pretty pointless with the way the ai just sticks it to u, even beyond the arc when defending even someone like lebron for example, whom teams usually just give him the jumper.

in addition to this, there just seems to be an extreme lack of ai reaction on any user input - whether it be jab steps, pump fakes, fake passes etc.

I feel the same way. I've only been playing on superstar though. But yeah the ai just defends everyone tightly.

Is there a way to adjust this behavior with sliders? Maybe lower Def awareness and bump up help d? Would that work?

it seems to me that ace should step up and adjust. it doesn't seem to, and I can just constantly iso in the high post, slash past my man one dribble into a dunk, over and over again.

What level are you playing on?

I see this on SS

It seems to vary throughout the game..

Not sure what drives it though...

I haven't noticed this, but I've only played MyPlayer so far. I do notice that some defenders tend to give me space to shoot open 3s on my player then scoot up after 2 seconds of me standing still on the 3 point line (HOF).

Were you feathering the stick and in any particular angle?

thanks for the video example. i play on all star - and when i do it, the defender doesn't drop back like that... he just stays stationary. even in your example, i probably would have forced a drive on him because i'd had been scared of how close he was getting to the ball. i'll keep at it though and see what happens - maybe i just haven't been playing with it enough.

btw, what was your dribble combo there? a manual double crossover?
