VC Ads in Offline modes?

So all the billboards/sideline banners being replaced with VC ads in offline MYGM/MYLeague modes..
What does everyone think about that?

For me it was quite jarring to see...and quite an immersion breaker. I know its a tiny little thing and they have probably reverted/the sale has ended by now im not sure i haven't checked. But still, is this something the devs should be doing?

I myself think it should probably be kept out of the offline stuff after all it is called "MYGM" etc, or at least allow us the option to turn them off/revert to normal playoff/season stuff..

Re: VC Ads in Offline modes?

I find it really annoying how hard they are pushing selling VC, but NOT fixing major gameplay issues. If I am Playing the game Offline I could not possibly ever care LESS, about Virtual Currency for Online game Modes. If MyPark was atleast a very enjoyable game mode, it would make sense to Push VC because people would want to buy VC and get back on the park.

Re: VC Ads in Offline modes?

They've gone overboard with pushing VC sales now in the game. Not only the billboards and banners in game, but also all those damn popups when you just start up the game too. Like can't we just enjoy the game we paid $60 for in peace and not be annoyed to death with ads to try to get us to spend another $60. It's gotten insane i don't care what modes you play offline/online.

Sadly I think its only gonna get worse until they start seeing push back from the consumer and they stop buying the game new and either start buying it used or skipping years. Better yet would be some real competition in the market place to give consumers two good choices for basketball gaming, where they start competing and focusing more on the gameplay side of things again. Right now all we have is a mediocre basketball game rushed to market with the sole focus on pushing VC sales.

Re: VC Ads in Offline modes?

should not be anywhere. I'm cool with it being on the main page as a pop up, because that makes sense, but once you start a game, I don't wanna see any pop ups or VC SALE plastered over parts of the game.

Next they are gonna have justice w/ a big gold chain that says "VC."

It makes me wonder if they aren't selling VC as much as they thought anymore... or are they just pushing it anyway?

Edit: the reason ads suck is because they break immersion. The point of an ad is to steal your attention away from what you are doing, to catch your eye, so if you want people enjoying your game, you can't be pushing things like that once people get into something. It's like watching a movie on a channel that has ads, one of the worst experiences. The shameless part is wack, but just even having the idea of VC put in my head while I'm trying to have fun is bothersome.

Respect the minds of your gamers, let them play your game. If they like it *then* that should lead them to buying VC. It shouldn't be beat them into submission. I bought 20 bucks of VC a couple times, but not this year...

If you look at it from a Marketing perspective, the game is all about convincing you to buy VC with $$$$.

There is such as a thing as spoiling your brand when it becomes super obvious like this.

Re: VC Ads in Offline modes?

"NBA 2K17, which came out in September 2016, should have also generated strong sales performance during the quarter that ended at the end of December. On the last conference call, management indicated the game had its most successful launch in series history, selling 4.5 million copies to date. The game's additional digital content -- virtual currency and the mobile companion app -- has been key a contributor to Take-Two's growth in recurrent consumer spending. The more copies that are sold, the more Take-Two can create consistent revenue and cash flow year-round."

"Recurring revenue - Management will likely receive questions from analysts about plans to monetize its top games after sale. Grand Theft Auto Online and NBA 2K's virtual currency have been successful in this effort. In the last quarter, bookings from recurrent consumer spending (including virtual currency, downloadable add-in content, and online games) increased 63% year over year and accounted for 24% of total bookings."

This business model is here to stay unless consumers stop buying both the game and VC, which isn't going to happen, boyos.

If anything it's likely to get even worse.

Calling VC "content" is laughable on behalf of the journalist though.

Re: VC Ads in Offline modes?

What they're doing is clearly working, so I don't see them stoppjng anytime soon. Check the MyTeam forum. There's guys out there spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on VC. 2K is raking in cash by the millions and from a business perspective I can't blame them either.
