How would you build your perfect NBA 2K?

I was buying a build a bear for my wife for Valentiens day and I got to thinking; How would I build my "perfect" 2K from 2K's past?

Shooting: NBA 2K11. In 2K11 shooting was smooth and quick. Players didn't float or move. I could run to a spot pretty much anywhere outside the paint and effortlessly pull up.

Defense: NBA 2K15. I was able to lock people down in that one. It's the last one defense felt both fun and rewarding to me.

Passing: NBA 2K12 was the best here. It felt like I had more precision and the passes weren't as floaty.

Dribbling: NBA2k12's dribbling was the overall best. I could actually break people down. The live ball physics added a risk/reward that I personally found enjoyable. The dribbles also had more personality to them i that makes sense.

Presentation: NBA 2K14. 2K11 was great with the in game adverting of upcoming games. But 2K14 overall package was better. That one was the pinnacle of Damon Bruce. 2K7's halftime show with "Kenny's Stamp of Approval" was also a fave of mine.

Player Movement: I gotta go with NBA2K14 NG here. Offensively I could get anywhere. I was just playing it the other day and going back to 2K17 offensive players feel clumsy while defenders are sticky. I can't just cross a guy up, drive the paint, watch the D collapse and smoothly kick it out.

MyCareer: I have never been a big MyCareer guy but I have gotten into a bit more with 2k17. I completed the story in 2k16 and dropped it soon after. I'm just past the allstar game and I am enjoying it for what it's worth. I have a playmaker (I think) Sf with an 87 overall at this point. I have pick dodger, catch and shoot and some fast break badge. This is the most I've ever played so it wins here. The story is kind of cheesy but we're on the Kings. So both Justice and me actually fill a need for them. We have a pretty good interesting lineup with Justice, me, Gay, Tolliver (that dude can shoot 3's!) and Cousins.

Online: Never played online so I can't really weigh in here.

Anyway, how would you guys build your "perfect" 2K?

Reading through another thread kind of inspired me to revisit this one. I didn't see the older 2K games as more fun, however I did enjoy certain aspects of them better than the ones now. It seems many others do as well...

I agree with everything you said and I'm not really an online or my player kind of gamer. However I like the presentation in 2k12 because of era based filters for classics. If only they can bring that back for current generation like for instance 2k18. I would be a very happy man

Personally, I hope 2K18 is a year of refining and perfecting what we have. I don't want any new teams or any new features. I do want presentation to finally rival NFL2k5. The game is feature rich enough, imo. Touch up the classic players. Give us the era based filters and hopefully presentation packages from 2K12. Could you imagine running a 90s ML with that VHS filter and 90s presentation? That be awesome. Plus, I think that those filters hide some of the player imperfections better than crystal clear 1080p.

To me 2k15 with current pro-am added would be pretty much perfect. Maybe add in the wonderfully responsive player movement from last gen 13 and 14 but honestly current gen 15 actually did comme pretty close after all the patches imo. Obviously i'd like to tweak the little cheese it had, as well as add some more things to it but not necessarily from previous 2k's.

Since i already wasted my time typing them down, before i noticed the "from previous 2k's" part in the OP, i'll go ahead and put them in a spoiler.

Plus 2k can say that nba live has this and that but we have an immersion that you can't find in any other sports video games. In wwe 2k17 they have era based filters so I feel they should apply that to NBA 2k also. It's only right.

Then we can really get our NBA on NBC on with the vhs filter.

I really liked 2K15. Perimeter defense felt balanced and not overpowered. 2K's trademark "suction/canimated" on ball D was still there but it wasn't as bad as 2K16 and 2K17 at launch (I'm really enjoying 2K17 right now after all the patches). I didn't have much a problem with getting around a bad defender. I remember liking how organic driving the paint was in 2K15, too. The thing from 2K15 that I didn't like was how dark it was compared to 2K14 and the shooting just didn't feel right. It hasn't really felt right since the move to current gen. Mike Wang saying that they're going back through all the games and getting shooting from the best one has me excited to see where they go with 2K18. 2K10-2K14 last gen shooting felt perfect.
