The Play Now Online Tiers Conversation

Reading the comments in the 1.08 Patch Notes thread, I saw Da_Czar make this comment:

"As a community you guys should start a thread and hash this out and boil it down to exactly what you want to see. Then lobby for that specifically.

Was tiers what you really wanted ? Was it better without tiers ? etc etc. IMHO of course."

Here is the requested thread.

I'll start it off with my views, but obviously, everyone's input is required in order to make this the constructive thread that could hopefully lead to the changes we, as a community want to see.

Personally, I like the tier system and think it should remain, albeit with very simple tweaks.

The biggest concern, is that we are so often being forced to play against the same team as the one selected. This should not happen at all. There must be a simple block for playing the same team as your own.

I even choose unpopular teams at times, but then have to wait for a match for minutes on end, and more often than not, do not get matched with someone.

I would like to be able to select which tiers I am looking to play against.

So if I choose a Tier 4 team, I would like the option of choosing to play a team in Tier 2, 3 and 5, and omit teams from Tier 1 and 4. This would diversify the challenge, and could be helpful when looking for those bonus wins.

The other tweak, that is so important to me, is to have a simple home/away uniform lock. If you are the home team, you can only select from your teams collection of home uniforms, and vice versa, for away teams.

This should stop the same colour uniform cheese that also makes playing Play Now Online a bit of a pain.

Another tweak would be the simple option to back out of a matchup with no penalty at the uniform select screen.

My final tweak, would be to allow us to save, within Play Now Online, a lineup and coach settings so we don't have to constantly make a bunch of tweaks before playing the game.

The Tier is alright but I think it needs more work. I usually play as Timberwolves in Tier 4 and I usually play against most Mirror matches and different teams in Tier 4 and 5.

What I want is 2K to bring in no tier system change PNO (Play Now Online) to NBA today games, but make them RANKED Games and give the people the option to play current NBA games without problems!

Here is the benefits of having this:

No Mirror Matches
No Same Colour Jersey
No waiting
Play different teams on a Daily!

Example: Feb 2, 2017
Lakers vs Wizards
Hawks vs Rockets
76ers vs Spurs
Warriors vs Clippers

Feb 3, 2017
Raptors vs Magic
Timberwolves vs Pistons
Pacers vs Nets
Lakers vs Celtics
Grizzlies vs Thunder
Bulls vs Rockets
Bucks vs Nuggets
Suns vs Kings
Mavericks vs Trail Blazers

So everyday it’s a different team with a different playing experience giving the user more variety when playing.

If anybody has anymore thoughts by adding to this greatly appreciate it.

Uh the only way to fix the issue is the players. People will always pick the best teams with or without the tiers so it will only be fixed by us choosing different teams 2k cant do anything about it.

Honestly, I would be completely happy if the search options worked, and I still had the option to back out without penalty.

I still like the tier system, because it gives people an incentive to use lower ranked teams. Otherwise, everyone would use the GSW or Cavs.

Also, give us a "locked" option whether or not we want to play mirror matches. Beyond that, I don't expect sweeping changes. The popularity of the mode is dying with each passing year due to MyPlayer and ProAm.

Just make it exactly the same as last year which worked 100% fine where there was bonus VC for besting higher tiers, there was absolutely no need to change anything about it and now this year's matchmaking has never worked.

Same with the substitution menus, on the fly coaching menu, etc etc.

Stopping trying to fix things that aren't broken for the sake of change would be a great starting point.

I agree. Last year was fun playing against other players in the same league as you. Especially when you noticed playing certain people multiple times, forming that rivalry. I miss the ability of being able to play with the worst team in the league and trying to beat the best team and receiving extra VC for it. It really was not broken last year.

Only one problem with your suggestion. What happens when your team has an off day and doesn't play that day? Are you not allowed to play with them or does your opponent get to pick any team they want or what?

2k pretending they cant do anything about it when they dont care. here is the solution. nba daily games would be amazing, and should have been in the game years ago. i remember live had it one year.
