I hope this makes the game brutally hard. I have been playing 2k for 16 years, I want to get new game and feel like an infant I don't know the control nuances.

I think that only a
Spoiler
can give you that...

NBA 2K is being built on top of the previous versions. It takes almost a full generation to feel a huge difference. If you played 2K7...skipped 5 titles...and then went back and played 2K13 (or 2K12 or 2K14 on the old gen), you would get that feeling that's you're looking for.

EDIT:

Almost forgot there was an article here. I liked it, if it's what it sounds, then it's something that many of us have been waiting for. But, as always, it might have some shortcomings, which will be taken care of next year and the year after. A new system always takes some tweaking and more development time, it's not going to be just there yet the first time. But it's a first and important step.

I like what I'm reading, but knowing we'll have a demo, I'll reserve my judgement until then. My biggest concern about the game is the passing...Have they toned down the high probability of the CPU almost seemingly playing perfect in the passing lanes? What have they done to remedy the terrible TOs? Are players still clipping through each other to get rebounds & steals?

This sounds like size up moves will be more similar to Live 16 where you don't simply flick the stick to initiate a size up animation but instead control the size up move by what is performed on the sticks. If this is the case I like it IF it is executed properly.
I think that is exactly what it means is Kyrie has separate animations in his dribble package, LeBron has a separate set of animations in his package which is probably more basic. In order to create Kyrie's handle you have to do the moves yourself. You can't count on the game to animate the combo for you. You have to do the combo.

Think of it as each dribble is a punch kick, special move in Street fighter haha but the punches are the dribbles, hesi, cross, between the legs, behind the back spin, escape dribbles, in and out.

I was just practicing with Kyrie. He has like 8 dribbles in his sig sizeup forward. They are very fast but it is a quick canned animation that you can break at multiple points.

I just looked up the move that dropped Brandon Knight at the All-star game.

It looked like this:

Between the legs, diagonal
between the legs, diagonal
between the leg, diagonal other direction
behind the back, back
inside out, forward
cross over, left
step back jumper, shoot hop step back

In order to execute that move you have to have stick skills

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBuIjU4nKVY

I think this means you have to do all of that if you want to recreate that move. Not saying you need to do all of that but I think it is possible

I just don't want to be able to sit 20ft away from.my TV, slouch back, press one button, and still put up 30.

Gotta be a lean in, pull, up the Ottoman, leave me alone I'm practicing all night.

Well technically, it isn't a lie.

2k14 was AWFUL with Jackson Ellis and mute players. 2k15 was slightly less cringe worthy since some players could talk now, although you had instances like DeMarcus Cousins mumbling through an entire script that was trash btw. 2k16's "Livin Da Dream" had a awful title, awful pacing, cringe worthy moments like parents and a twin sister that don't match the player and Vic's awful slang (did give us Anya Engel-Adams fine self though), but it was a achievement for a story in a sports videogame. The closest any sports game has come to that was The Life series from some years back, and I have high hopes for FIFA 17's "The Journey"(both had/have predetermined characters and don't let you create one). All they have to do is learn from their mistakes and take on a full realistic approach instead of trying to impress little kids with how "down" and "cool" they are.

2K has always done a poor job of releasing official gameplay videos. At best we'll see this week of release. At least we get the prelude on the 9th. Hopefully we'll be able to experience the changes first hand and determine if offense and defense is balanced.
Yes they do have blogs and THE CZAR explains alot of things, but most of the loudest critics don't take the time to watch his Youtube channel. There is a live chat room. They could easily go there, when he airs his Hangout, and have a conversation about it,,.,,but no,,,lets keep making wild assumptions on OS instead
