Re: Historic Teams will be DLC

From the Article....

According to 2K, fans will be able to purchase and download playable all-time-great teams representing each of the playable colleges from The Prelude.

There will also be special collegiate MyTeam cards with legend players from those programs. That’s a bit of a bombshell.

For the first time, NBA 2K is actually delving into DLC for additional teams. That’s a pretty significant addition. I’ve long said I’d be willing to pay for extra teams–as long as they were of some value to the experience.
Not all fans will fill this way. You can bet there will be members of the community that say, the teams should be available from the beginning, and they have a point.

However, this is not much different than the manner by which gamers spend cash for micro-transactions in card-based modes like MyTeam and Ultimate Team.

Hopefully, we’ll see players who aren’t available in any other area of the game accessible in this DLC.

Being able to use alumni all-star teams in MyGM or MyLeague rosters is exciting for fans like myself who love franchise mode gaming

Why do they give NBA2k for free and let you buy what you want to play! LOL!

Better yet make NCAA2K once every two years, give the fans what they want.

Re: Historic Teams will be DLC

The way I'm reading it is it's just all time college teams for now yeah? I may cop if I think the price is decent, hopefully it's not just players copied and paste from their faces in-game now and actually is likened to their college days

It's hard to make anything of 2k news since it's vague and incomplete.

They can have that. I'm good with playing as regular teams

Just make a College Hoops 2k game already...Dang!

This is actually a really cool idea, 2k knew they had good stuff up their sleeves that's why they've been holding out for so long. Sept 16th can't come soon enough!

Yep, I'm one of those dudes.

I completely understand that player rights (particularly retired player rights) must be paid for by 2K. And if it became completely and abundantly clear that they absolutely would not be able to continue to support classic teams without supplemental income from consumers, then I'd understand.

However, I have seen virtually no hints or suggestions that that's ever been the case. In fact, 2K has doubled down on the amount of included players and teams over the past five years when accounting for Euroleague, Olympics, and 2000's classics (not to mention the bolstering of the music soundtrack with huge name and more songs than ever).

Basically, if licensing classics were a cost issue, there hasn't been any real hint of it. As such, I've never really dug people clamoring to pay for classics; seems like we're just giving them an excuse to charge us for no reason.

Now, if it was something like, "Hey 2Kers, bad news, we're can't afford classic teams anymore unless...." then I might be more likely to budge on that stance.

Edit: I totally read that part as if you wrote it, ha. Didn't realize all of your post was from the article. My point still stands.
