Pace Offense 101 Tutorial (Video included)

I have not seen many videos on the Pace "Freelance" offense. In the video I show the basic options available with the pace offense. Let me know if you guys like it and if you have ever tried the offense out.

This is great. I think a lot of guys would benefit from similar introductions to other offensive systems. Things I really think you did right:

• You laid out what kind of personnel the system is good for, and what kinds of looks it is designed to give
• You demonstrated how it all flows in freelance
• You showed how to apply it successfully in a game setting
• You talked about how you may use it differently based on your personnel (as in your backup PG)
• You - and this is important - talked though your decision making on the court over when and how to use it - recognizing what the defense is doing and how to work the system adaptively

I think that last piece is so valuable in all these kinds of videos because what separates, in my opinion, the best sim players from others is not primarily stick skills (though of course we have to learn those) but the ability to see what's happening and make decisions. By that I mean decisions about shot selection, POE's, tweaks to the freelance set up, exploiting matchups, pace of the game, how to handle when a play breaks down, etc.

Videos like this that help players see, think, adapt and make decisions, all in the context of working with an offensive system, are great for all players, including total beginners and intermediate players who have some stick skills and gimmicks but who haven't learned to play sim.
