Re: What are some ground rules you set to make your GM Mode more realistic?
I'd say:
- Don't use the GM badges you earn, if 2K14 has that system (I'm on 2K15 and I've never experienced the MyGM mode in 2k14). The more badges you get, the easier it gets. Scouting improvements badges are ok though because in real life, NBA scouting is always top notch.
- Remember that you're the boss and players are only employees. If a player wants more playing time, you can coddle him the first time but if he's too persistant and doesn't really deserve, be more strict. His morale will probably drop consequently and probably you should trade or waive him. That's how it usually ends up in real life (Jackson, Kanter...).
- Regarding trades, signings, and building the team in general, define an objective. Would you keep the same style the team is playing in real life or would you rather build the team your way and make it a tough defensive team or run'n'gun style or build a big three surrounded by veterans, etc... And then sign and trade accordingly. Also, sign and trade accordingly to your franchise's soul. For example, I use the Bucks, it's a small market, money is very important to the owner, so I do my best not to go over the salary cap.
That's all I have for now, hope that helps.
