Dribbling Moves and Exploding Toward Basket?

Hi guys- I am fairly new to 2K and am having a difficult time with the isomotion dribbling and drives. I understand the basic concept of the moves but I cannot seem to do a move and explode "Toward" the basket. It almost seems like I just do moves and cant really move toward the basket after the move.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Trying pushing the stick towards the basket before your player is done with the dribble move. Also lay off turbo until you are ready to attack the basket.
