Kobe Bryant has been on the decline?

His last healthy season, which wasn't all that long ago, he was averaging 27 pts, 46% shooting, 83% from FT, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 1.4 steals per game.

Those stats are on par, if not better than anything James Harden has done throughout his career.

Kobe may have been overrated in previous games, but 89 is spot on, IMO.

I thought I was the only one who noticed. This is the most glaring inaccuracy of the top 20 players, by far. I mean, Duncan isn't the best at his position, he isn't the best player on his team, and he didn't make the All-Star team last year. Yet, somehow, he's the FOURTH highest rated player in the game. SMDH.

Last year ratings were kind of general for position right ? Like it did not matter if it was Dirk , Kevin Love , Serge Ibaka , they were all rated the same way. As a result star players like Dirk were rated pretty low for superstar values.

I think this year the new formula picks the category which nets the player the highest overall . For example Dirk - maybe scorer , Love -Rebounding , Ibaka -Defensive Or athletic . This way players like Dirk are rated higher to better show their value to the team . At least that's how I understand it. Any insight Beds?

Westbrook and Parker is a good comparison. Two great players at the same position but extremely different types of point guards. Parker has a higher IQ, is more consistent, and is a better passer a decision; where as Westbrook is more athletic, a better scorer, and probably a better defender at this point in careers. It is difficult to quantify which player is better since they are both very effective at their particular styles.

The way a see it overall only dictates so much. As long as players play like themselves and put up proper stats then I have no problem with the ratings. But if I see Tony Parker throwing down dunks, shooting first, and putting up 40+ points in games then there is an issue.
I agree completely. I look at the overall rating this year as how that particular player rates at their particular strength, vs position wide. Take Melo for instance. He's probably the best "scoring" Small Forward in the league. And he's probably rated as the highest "scoring" forward overall. He's not the BEST forward in the league, just the best "scoring" forward. That works for me honestly. It's nuanced and gives us something other than the bland old "overall" formula to gauge players. I'm really hoping that it leads to more varied and authentic play by the CPU. Like having Tony Parker actually play like Tony Parker when I play the Spurs; then play the Thunder the next day (without touching sliders) and having Russ jacking up shots left and right.

That is absolutely accurate, paired with the fact that many of the attributes were redone, and I went through all and re-evaluated the individual attributes per player

Did Roses rating drop significantly last year when he sucked for that
first month of the season before he got hurt again?

I like most of these ratings but, I feel like I'm not understanding this "Player type" argument. If you categorize players based on their play styles and then grade them on how good they are at that specific style, a guy like Tony Allen should be in the top 15. Sure he couldn't drop 25 points to save his own life, but as far as perimenter defense, LeBron, Jimmy Butler, PG13 and maybe Shumpert are the only other guys in the conversation. Right? What am I missing?
