One thing I never understood about Team Up...

Now, I'm probably in the minority of 2K users that play Team Up with other players (3v3, 4v4, 5v5) more than I do MyCAREER or MyGM or ranked matches, and that's probably why they never cared to change this...

...but why don't the CPU's sub themselves out?

As an example, you can pick the Warriors in a 10 minute team up match, and if you're playing another team that likes to drive, Andrew Bogut or David Lee can get fouled out by halftime. They get tired and still play the entire duration of the game.

Is there something specific where we can't have computers just sub themselves out and re-enter starters at important points in the game?

This is a huge issue!

The problem is it seems fatigue doesn't affect players much or at all.

This is a 2K glitch!

Users also take advantage of this lack of fatigue issue as well.

How is Team Up apart from that issue. Do people still paintball, i.e. are passes into the paint that should be deflected 99% of time, going straight to the C under the basket 100% of the time? Are passes going straight through limbs, etc.?

My issue isn't about passes going into the paint, this isn't a user related gameplay issue.

If I am on the Miami Heat in a team up game and the PF is a computer, Shane Battier is gonna play the entire game...which means if it's a 10 minute game, he's playing around a 40 minute game with zero subs. Why?

Is the game not smart enough to just sub out and put Haslem/Andersen for a few minutes if they're not being used by a player?

Yes but to a lesser extent. I think teamup is more sim than quick match and it's not even close. Especially with 10 good guys on HOF difficulty. Zone/double team defense actually shows some of its weaknesses in teamup.

Re: One thing I never understood about Team Up...

I think the problem stems from the fact that 2K doesn't want the CPU to "steal" a backup that a human player might want to use. So they just take out the sub logic in that mode. Just a guess, but it makes sense ... I guess.

For instance, you're playing as Durant. You go to sub in Jeremy Lamb, but the CPU SG got tired and subbed him in, so now you can't use him. Now me, I'd just put in the next backup (Perry Jones in this case), but I can see how some people might be annoyed by this.

Again, this is just a guess.

Re: One thing I never understood about Team Up...

On the rare occasion of when I play team-up, what makes me frustrated is when I'm like a small forward, and the PG uses my backup small forward, making him fatigued.

Team Up is the primary mode I play and I really enjoy it. The fun factor of that mode is entirely predicated on how good your teammates are. I have a group of guys, who all like to play sim, so we have a good time.

As for your "paintball" question, yes and no. It seems like more interior passes go through than should in real life; however, I used to remember this issue being a HUGE problem in years past, and now I only occasionally notice it.
