Should Virtual Currency be an option?

I don't care if you don't want to play the game to get VC, you shouldn't be able to pay (say a kid plays the game, don't assume every kid will be able to pay for VC every time.)

Or at least make the payoff more worth it, like an online game = 7,500 VC for actually hanging on with the 2K Servers and an extra 2,500 for winning.

Or myCareer.

A+ game = 5,000 VC
20+ Points = 1,000 VC
10+ Assists/Rebounds = 750 VC
Highlights = 100 VC per play
any broken records in the game = 10,000.
Key Game = + (50% earned)
Playoffs = + (100% earned)
Finals = + (150%)
Finals Game Winner = (200%)
Difficulty = Pro (-5%) to HOF (+10%)
Minutes = 5 Minutes (-5%) to 12 (+15%)

You either do 1 of 3 things:

1) Eliminate VC (lol)
2) Make the payoff more equal to one who buys VC
3) Remove VC in basic modes except myTeam and follow the EA style of VC/offline XP gaining.

It's like using cheat codes in a game, a waste.

1. There are people who due to real life are incapable of putting in the hours to get the progression in which your more "hardcore" players have. I think VC is a perfect option for them and have no problem with them doing so to max out... it still comes down to skill.

2. The most important reason for VC is the cost 2k has to keep the game going. So many of you I can tell are strictly console gamers and don't understand the costs of servers that game purchases don't cover.

If VC is annoying you that bad you should probably jump ship. With these new consoles it's only a matter of time before a majority of games are doing what PC games have been doing. Micro transactions and monthly subscriptions. 2k could of easily put in a monthly subscription fee, but they didn't. The positive of microtransactions is you can STILL earn the items, you are not forced to buy anything. So quit complaining and deal with it.
You shouldn't have to use VC to set rotations and anyone who plays mygm is forced to do that.

But if you meant for the license to not be exclusive then I agree, competition is key
Yeah 2K has had a monopoly for like 3 years and they went this route ie no roster saves muse be online to do anything and Madden has a monopoly on football for like 8 years and you can still can play a full offline franchise without the thought of micro transactions, not to mention that last time I went to their forum there was no mention of patches on the first page. We need 2 companies to giving their best to get decent sports games.

Explain to me how 2K has a monopoly? Don't worry, I'll wait.

I believe many people misuse the word "monopoly" as a placeholder for referring to 2K as being the only legitimate NBA game on the market. I don't believe whether 2K is a monopoly or not is the issue. Rather, when such a term is used, I think it's often people's way of saying, "We've had one NBA choice the last few years". I think some are then bummed with the prospect of knowing 2K doesn't have any real competition at this time. I wouldn't recommend getting too caught up on the monopoly thing. I think that's more about semantics than anything else.

I get what he's trying to say, but it's about time for people to learn the difference if they're going to try to make that point. There's a difference between being the only game in town because you made it impossible for anybody else to make a game and being the only game in town because everybody else either can't get out of their own way or choose to just sit on their asses when there are clear, wide open lanes for them to jump into.
