This actually makes a lot of sense. I was wondering where the drive came from to design a Blacktop/Non-NBA mode that you actually spend less time playing and more time having to wait and watch-- especially considering the development effort and tech needed to get 100+ players on the same courts and that classic MyCrew was in much higher demand and would have been easier to achieve technologically.

It makes more sense that The Park came about to fill 2K's need for a venue where purchased VC goods can be seen and admired by more people.

2K has been trying to sell high-priced gear and swag, but likely realized that there's not much reason to buy gear if only a limited number of people could see it (teams you play against) and there was limited time to look at it (only during matches). In the Park, you're exposed to hundreds of other people at once and a large number of them can only wait, watch the game, and admire other MyPlayers. It's an interesting, and probably misguided experiment, but its the only reason I can think of for The Park's unnecessary forced waits that's usually the bane of game design: The Park is largely meant to prop up and give value to VC and gear sales.

It also explains why classic MyCrew might not be as high a priority and effort was invested in something else that's actually more difficult to pull off technologically-- everyone is expected to wear and keep the same uniform in MyCrew, so there's less gear and swag turnover in 5v5 arena games without MyPlayer crowds. MyCrew likely won't make a return until 2K figures out a way to monetize that in some way as well.

I'm merely speculating based off current trends, but if this is true, I really feel like VC dictating which and how game modes are developed is turning the franchise in the wrong direction, if 2K is choosing not to invest in exactly what we've asked for, but awkward hybrids that prop up their microtransaction model instead.

One of the few things I actually like about this game, only problem is my camera angle is stuck at broadcast not sure how to change it. It's set on 2k in everything else.

Re: How does everyone feel about The Park?

Just ran into some random guy and we ended up becoming friends. Went on a run of about 12 unbeaten on the 3v3. Here is what i have to say about the park after this extensive playtime.

Gameplay
- Contact layups sliders need to be decreased as they go in too often.
- Blocked shots are ridiculous, they need to be toned down MASSIVELY
- Some kind of foul system needs to be introudced to deter people spamming steal and getting reach-in calls (same need to be applied to shooting fouls).
- I don't know if it's lag or by design, but when defending your player is too slow to change direction, but this applies across all of online, not just the park(see the input lag thread)

Thoughts

-This mode was made for people who purchase VC. Come show off your 95+ rated character with his ridiculous camo clothing, sunglasses and earrings to the rest of the world. (what sundown said pretty much)
- the above mentioned issues actually favor this kind of casual player who would be villing to purchase VC (or it could be a 13 year old with mum's credit card. it's 50/50)

So, another mode that could be vastly improved with some relatively small fixes that will never happen.

2k is turning their backs on the more "hardcore" fans and nba live needs to get their crap together so they actually have some competition.

its ok. its just kinda boring that everyone is or will be a 99, so there really isnt a team aspect. no one is a specialist/positions dont really matter since every one can do everything.

Re: How does everyone feel about The Park?

i was playing yesterday, and was the only big in the 3v3 (my guy is 6'11"). i could hear my teammates lament the fact that i sagged my 71 overall guy off the 99 SG i was made to guard, to prevent a dunkfest but giving up the three. so i try to be a good teammate and start pressing up on him, and he proceeds to blow by me every time for easy dunks. i agree totally that there should be more incentive to specialize player types. i'd be apt to avoid playing in games with dudes ranked 80+ too, but at this point, i'm just happy to get any run in this mode.

they were also clowning me for having the stock clothing ... the whole time i'm thinking to myself "i'll be DAMNED if i'm gonna blow VC on purely cosmetic clothing!"

and Lid is right ... with specific rating caps, isn't the eventual end to it all having a ton of identical players running around?

You can change it to the 2K angle but you have to do it yourself during the match (left dpad on PS4 I think)

After playing it a bit more, it is pretty difficult to keep up with the 99s, especially with the delay I'm getting. Bigger caps for each position to create more opportunities for specialists would be great, at 99 the guards and forwards play about the same, but it's not gonna happen and probably won't happen in the future either.

Re: How does everyone feel about The Park?

So far I hate it never seems to work. I miss being able to pop online and playing a quick game of say 1 vs 1 or 2vs2 for some VC and then moving on with MY player.

With The Park

1. long lines so if I say have 1 hour before work I can't jump on play a quick pick up Game and more on.

2. everyone is already 99 over all

3. Lag, Lag and more lag

4. the one Game I could get working I go no payout in the form of VC. What is the point VC is tied to everything.

Anyway I love the game but I think the Park is a major step backwards.

Anyway just my humble Opinion.

Re: How does everyone feel about The Park?

Waiting between another game right now, crazy. And 2K's response? "hold down the court" lol, that's hard to do with these servers cause every other game I get booted out, and then play with a friend doesn't work being forced to play with randoms who don't defend doesn't help.

To the above poster you do get VC you have to press start and back out. You only get 150 per game though.

Anyway I hope they drop this park crap next year and just bring crew in arenas with quarters back.. but I doubt it they do, I'm getting tired of hoping for it every year and being let down
