NBA 2K for a Basketball newbie?

Just got PS4 and trying to decide on a 2nd sports game (already have FIFA). I am a football fan and figured I'd get Madden, but seeing all these videos of NBA 2K is tempting me. Problem is, I don't really watch basketball and I've never really played a game in the 2K series. So my question is, how is the learning curve for someone who knows basketball rules and teams, etc., but doesn't know how to do any of the advanced moves, or understand what the plays are?

I'm the type of player that likes to play a full season in his sports games. So is this a game I can learn to be good at, or do I really need to understand the finer details and moves in basketball?

they have a training camp mode to help you get used to the controls and all the moves. if you did that and put it on a low difficulty to start out, should be good to go.

I don't like basketball at all and haven't really played much but this is incredible and the training mode teaches you everything you need to know. Don't pass up on this game as it's incredible.

Does anyone know how to force a trade while in GM mode? I'm trying to build a team with all players from my alma mater and I don't care about salary cap, etc. Last year's game you were able to override a rejection but I can't seem to figure it out here. Can anyone help?

You can't do it in this game. Only current gen since it has the original association mode.

Thanks man. I knew it was too good to be true. Game looked amazing, plays amazing. But they cut corners, that is obvious. Disappointed I was all in.

The menus in this game are horrible. Is there a way to edit rosters, then, before going into GM mode?
