NBA 2K23 Jordan Challenge Details and Features Revealed

New challenges:

1982 - UNC vs. Georgetown
1984 - Team USA Scrimmage (USA vs. NBA All-Stars, a real life event)
1988 - NBA All-Star Game
1989 - Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Game 5 (The Shot)
1997 - Bulls vs. Lakers

Some other quick hitters:

* Era filters are back

* Era-specific gameplay (less 3-point spot-ups, more cuts, Bad Boys-era physicality)

* Some classic stars receiving signature style revamps (Bird & Magic alluded)

* Mike Fratello on board as classic color commentator

* Ray Clay is on board for the Bulls starting lineup presentation (and "Sirius", naturally)

* Classic coaching sets borrowed from the likes of Phil Jackson, Jack Ramsay, Hubie Brown, Dick Motta, and more

* Some era-specific rules (illegal defense)

* Era-specific moves (i.e. players from the 80's won't be utilizing the Shammgod)

* For the classic junkies: era-correct Moses Malone spotted (bald with goggles) for Hawks-Bulls challenge

* A number of arenas appear to have era-specific dorna boards, basket stanchions, and advertisements (Boston Garden, in particular, has never never looked more like the Boston Garden).











This mode looks like a piece of art. So many details seem to be accounted for, right on down to the accurate USA-All-Star court at the Hoosierdome. Amazing.

This all sounds absolutely amazing. I have been dreaming about 2K bringing back old school era basketball rules and gameplay.

The only nitpick/request I have left is to make sure these old school era rules, filters and AI can be used in myNBA and not just the Jordan Challenge modes.

The 1984 Team USA Basketball Scrimmage being there is such great addition for old heads like me. I remember watching it live and it confirming what I already knew, even the best players in the NBA weren't going to be able to hold Mike.

This is absolutely incredible. They put a lot of thought into the challenges and picked the right key moments. Wow. Like a video game version of “The Last Dance.”

I wonder if these rules etc. can be used for MyNBA. I would LOVE the bad boys physicality applied.

Good read, but damn that video was sick…

The detail is insane, even the animation transitions look better…and that’s just watching it on my phone. The idea that these graphics are “stale” or behind somehow is wild to me.

A little confusion about the 90s Bulls warm-ups. They appear at the 1 minute mark but everywhere else the teams are on the bench and tunnel without them.
