Breakdown of Tendencies & Attributes?

Can anyone shine some light on what tendencies o what and how they work with each other and how changing them in the options menu affects the actual player tendencies and attributes?

Re: Breakdown of Tendencies & Attributes?

Do you mean the Tendency and Attribute sliders? It's pretty straightforward, if you increase speed/strength/rebounding/etc everyone on the court gets better at those attributes.

If you change tendency sliders, the CPU will alter their decision making to fit those changes. The higher you set a tendency, the more the AI runs their offense favoring that tendency. And the higher you set tendencies, the faster the AI will try to score in that way (the opposite affect occurs if you lower those tendencies).

So let's say you set all tendencies to 70 instead of 50. The AI will rush the ball around and try to put up a shot much faster than before. However, this also tends to lead to HORRIBLE decision making by the CPU as they're just rushing through their offensive sets.

So increasing the tendencies in the option menu overrides the players individual tendencies? And leaving it at 50 lets the players individual tendencies take over more?

I wouldnt say overrides it, it enhances it.

on a different note: What happens when a players rating or tendency is already maxed out, and you set the sliders higher then 50? would it just cap at 99 or would it go above that?

Re: Breakdown of Tendencies & Attributes?

It's an absolute game of mix and match when it comes to sliders and attributes.

For example, I found that in 2k16 and prior, most star players Shot IQ Attribute, was at or near 98.

Now if you wanted say Kobe to take more pull-up mid range jumpers you COULD increase the Mid Range Tendency slider, but what that does, is lead to Shaq/Kendrick Perkins/Joel Anthony to do more mid range-pull up jumpers also.

BUT, if you wanted Kobe to play more like Kobe, if you drop that Shot IQ Attribute to say 73... Kobe will now take "worse shots" or more contested pull-ups/fadaways... which is what he does, but if you lower that Attribute his Overall Rating drops.

But you could also mix the two together to find a healthy balance to not ruin the overall gameplay.

Fun stuff being in the lab

Also to make more dynamic plays, alter under the Vitals, make stretch PF's or Star PF's/Centers like Bosh/Kevin Love/Anthony Davis/Draymond Green, make their "Bring The Ball Up" to "Yes". So much more fun dynamic play running

Some tendencies have a strong correlation to game play out and some don't. For example, the throw alleyoop tendency. If you max it 100 you would expect for alleys to be thrown all over the place but it does not happen.... But if you change for example Reggie Jackson alleyoop tendency to 75 he will throw them even with the slider at 50. So in a nut shell, you're better editing the roster than slider tendency if you want realistic play. I would only adjust sliders that are not tied directly to a player ttendency/attribute such as "inside contact "

The only slider that i have adjusted that is a player attribute is the passing accuracy and shot attributes. The reason for passing is to have more non-steal turnovers (makes for realistic fg attempts) . shot attributes because of the shot meter glitch and the fact that they tune the shooting like everyday so its hard to find a good balance for shooting percentages.

Hmm, I've never really tried that so I'm not sure. Best guess is that it would just cap at 99 and make everyone else close to 99 as well, removing variety.
