Defining sliders

Hey everyone,

I've been reading through many of the threads this year for the NBA 2K15 slider sets and I've seen that there have been quite a few misunderstandings with what a certain slider is in the set and what it does so I was thinking those who have been editing sliders since October do you think you might be able to give a description of what each slider means in the entire set. For example like you would quickly describe the following sliders in a set...

quickness
vertical
hustle
stamina
fatigue rate

Thats just a small example of what I was thinking about.

If you guys feel up to it I think it would be a great addition and it would benefit users in the community with a better understanding of what each slider is being used for.

This is a good thread! Much needed. I'll define them as I understand them.

Quickness affects how fast a player reaches his top speed, and basically increases the speed of animations when raised.

Vertical dictates how high a player can jump for rebounds and blocks; I do not think it affects dunking as much.

Hustle affects blocking, offensive rebounding, and how easy it is to get back on defense in transition; also affects a player's likelehood of diving for loose balls.

Stamina is a player's overall energy. The higher this slider is, the slower players tire. This slider is also inter-related to the fatigue effect slider, and I'm still not too sure what the difference between them is. I do know that if you raise stamina to say 75, everybody on your roster will be capable of playing 40 minutes with few side-effects.

Re: Defining sliders

Ok so here is a quick list of the sliders as they are laid out in the sliders section of the game. I'll list them and I'll list what I think they refer to in the game...

Offense:
Inside Shot Success - the success of inside shots that teams shoot

Close Shot Success - the success of close shots that teams shoot

Mid-Range Success - the success of mid-range shots that teams shoot

3PT Success - the success of 3PT shots that the teams shoot

Layup Success - the success of layups that the teams shoot

Dunk In Traffic Frequency - the higher it is the more you will dunk in traffic; the lower it is the less likely you will dunk in traffic when attacking the basket

Dunk In Traffic Success - the success of dunking in traffice that teams shoot

Pass Accuracy - the accuracy of players passing; the higher the rating the more passes are completed; the lower the rating many passes are either thrown out of bounds, fumbled, unable to dribble and gain possession

Alley-Oop Success - the success of teams throwing alley-oops

Contact Shot Success - the success of shots by teams that are made when contact is initiated

Here's the list of the other slider sections...hopefully we'll be able to get some good knowledge for everyone to further understand what each slider means and if they should raise or lower it...

Defense:
Driving Contact Shot Frequency

Inside Contract Shot Frequency

Layup Defense Strength (takeoff)

Layup Defense Strength (release)

Jump Shot Defense Strength (gather)

Jump Shot Defense Strength (release)

Help Defense Strength

Re: Defining sliders

With 2K, you can get the game playing how you want using sliders (for most issues, anyway). They do what they are intended.

In contrast, finding the right mix of gameplay for Madden requires months of arduous testing to find the right blend amongst sliders that don't work, are reversed and arent properly explained.

I always thought that the higher u put this slider the faster u tire wtf man

maybe Its fatigue rate the higher u set the faster they tire

the issue for me ia the jumpshot gather release slider
and layup takeoff release slider

if anyone could like break this down I would be sooo happy .

Stamina is the AMOUNT of energy your player has, think of it as a pool...

Stamina = Amount of Water in the pool
Fatigue Rate = How fast the water drains out of it.

I haven't been able to test this on NBA 2k15 yet, but since 2k12 this is what I've found the Gather/Takeoff and Release sliders do:

Layup Defense Strength (Takeoff) - How much of an effect the defense has on the start of a layup. This slider controls the frequency/variety of layup takeoff animations. The higher the slider, the more frequency/variety of layup takeoff animations.

Layup Defense Strength (Release) - How much of an effect the defense has on a layup at release. This slider controls how difficult it is to make a layup in traffic. The higher the slider, the more difficult it is to make contested layups.

Jump Shot Defense Strength (Gather) - How much of an effect the defense has on the start of a jump shot. This slider controls the frequency/variety of contested jump shot animations. The higher the slider, the greater the effect a nearby defender has on a shooter, and contested jump shot animations are triggered more frequently.

Jump Shot Defense Strength (Release) - How much of an effect the defense has on a jump shot at release. This slider controls the difficulty of shots in traffic. The higher the slider, the more often you will miss contested jumpers/shots in traffic.

Also, in previous years, the sliders worked like this: HUM sliders control the strength of YOUR defense, so increasing the HUM sliders will make it harder on the CPU. CPU sliders control the CPU defense, so increasing CPU sliders makes it harder for YOU.
